I have been a member of Key Club for three years now and it has changed my views on many things. I have been extremely active in the club, attempting to participate in an activity that was offered. The events that I took part of include bell ringing at our local CVS Pharmacy, food drives at our local Quick Check, helped out at our school’s Snack Shack, holiday parties, and many others that consisted of helping the community. By being a part of Key Club I have learned that it is not always about yourself, but about the help you give to others when in need, and that is what really matters.
The services I completed through the church were Operation Shoebox, which was preparing packages for the service members over the holiday, helping with mass, volunteering at breakfasts, and decorating the church when the help was needed. When doing this work, every time I put a smile on someone’s I feel as if I have just saved their life. I am certain that being part of such a diverse community at Rutgers, I will be able to continue to help the community, and be determined to help anyone who needs it. I also took part in raising money at the firehouse with holiday breakfasts that they had, by making food and serving it.
