The summers are hot. The winters are cool. The fall is very warm and festive and the spring time too. The air is thin, due to the desert like environment and higher elevation. Humidity is low: this is a beneficiary of those with arthritis. The weather can be very unpredictable here. For example, the other day while driving down I-25, a storm popped up next to me. The clouds opened up and down poured to the earth below. The wind pushed and the rain pounded, but suddenly turned and dissipated as if it was never there. The events like this can be fascinating and frightening. This city with its glamorous and breathtaking views has a source of danger, lightning. In seven years 30 people were struck and killed by lightning while fishing in CO. The military are outdoors a lot for training, so watching, and listening for lightning alerts are very important. Still, the weather is nice enough most of the year, and allows enjoyment of the outdoor activities and point of
interests.
Colorado Springs has five military bases, three of which are: Army, Fort Carson, Peterson Air force, and Schriever Airbase. Military families usually live on post, but Colorado Springs has many little communities with their own walking paths and parks. This entices military families chose to live off post. The little communities are nice to have, but that is only a small attraction to Colorado Springs. Hiking and biking are two very popular past times, along with fishing. These three activities can be done in a number of gorgeous locations. Colorado Springs has a few favorites: Garden of the Gods with its mysterious wonders, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo has very enjoyable views and adorable animals, Pikes Peak is especially popular with the military and Seven Falls Park is breathtakingly beautiful. There are a lot of little rivers and lakes to fish from. Colorado Springs has much to offer, but one of the many appeals is how close to other towns and their points of interest it is. Woodland Park offers great fishing spots and has a dinosaur museum. Denver is a favorite for military to go to watch a Denver Bronco game or get wet in the water park. Pueblo has a Riverwalk and a reservoir that military families have enjoyed.
Colorado Springs thrives on the military. The different landforms and waterways to explore and the surrounding towns with their offerings make Colorado Springs a fantastic place to be stationed. The location of Colorado Springs provides experiences and vacation spots you may not have gotten the chance to otherwise enjoy. The experience of Colorado Springs is like a rainbow, many colors blended together to create one beautiful sight.
