The commercial is quite new, as it was published in the last days of November this year. It is in a form of a film with Wes Anderson as a director. He is known for such movies as ”Grand Budapest Hotel” or “Moonrise Kingdom”, where his use of symmetry, soft colour scheme and paying attention to the smallest details create a fairy-tale atmosphere. By making fictional world, detached from reality, the viewer can relate to the advert without any trouble - because it only reminds him of the original concept of Christmas. This is, of course, true – nevertheless, it is targeted specifically towards people who actually celebrate Christmas, so mostly Europeans and Americans.
The main purpose of this commercial is to advertise the clothing brand, H&M. Interestingly, it is not the commercial about the clothes only; they even play secondary role. It is about the promotion of the brand as a whole, hence, the other purpose – to make viewers familiar with the H&M philosophy, which is – apparently – to “come together”, enjoy important things in life
