“Band members have a special bond. A great band is more than just some people working together. It's like a highly specialized army unit, or a winning sports team. A unique combination of elements that becomes stronger together than apart”. (Zandt) Have you ever played an instrument? Was it with a Concert Band or an Orchestra instrument? Do you have a preference? I think playing in a band is better than playing in an orchestra because of its modernized features, variety and types of music played, and the opportunity it gives to expand and to play your band instrument in a marching band or jazz band. In a full orchestra, brass, woodwind and percussion sections combine with the string instruments to create music. But there are never string instruments invited to play with the concert band. This gives more opportunity for band instruments, and musicians to play a variety of music and to play in different venues and, to share their talent to more people!
Some people may say that orchestra, is more difficult because you must train your ear to hear the right pitch. They also claim say it is harder to play because of the fingering of the finger board, and the tuning of each string. So in contrast, people in orchestra are smarter. But I disagree because in band, we have a lot more instruments to coordinate, tune, and get on beat. So when we do that, we sound a lot more organized or harmonized rather than orchestra not in tune.
In conclusion, I think concert band is better because of the types of music we play, the other types of activities we get to participate in, and the opportunity we have to play with the orchestra. So, go get in a
