Comparing Two Stories For The Creation Of Aphrodite
Doing research on Aphrodite there are two stories for the creation of Aphrodite. IT is said that Titan Uranus had a son named Cronus who cut off his (Uranus’) genitals and threw them into the sea. The immortal flesh in the sea caused foam and thus Aphrodite formed out of a shell among the foam. She put them onto the island of Cyprus where the sea nymphs showered her with wonderful gifts.In other history she is known as the daughter of Zeus and Dionne. Aphrodite is suppose to be related to Zeus then her siblings would be Zeus children. When Aphrodite was brought up to Mt. Olympus Zeus decided he should marry her,, so he picked his son Hephaestus due to the fact that he is ugly. Hephaestus is the god of fire and believed it was because he was very hard working , but it's said that Zeus though it would be less chaotic is she was unattainable . Aphrodite had no choice in this union, but it did not stop her from having her side adventures with other men, gods and men. Hephaestus felt so lucky to …show more content…
A wedding happened among the gods and goddess for the union of King Peleus and Thetis. Eris the goddess of Chaos was not u=invited and in anger she tried to crash the wedding when not let in she threw a golden apple in the middle of the floor . Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite all believed themselves to be the fairest and began fighting over the apple.Zeus couldn't decide who, so he left his son Paris to decide. The king declared war, and it was the Trojan war to get revenge . Athena, who liked to meddle in lives just as Aphrodite did, gave Diomedes the power to see the immortals on the battlefield. She told him he should stay away from all the gods and goddess but he could stab Aphrodite. WHen APhrodite helped Aeneas by shielding him from all of the Diomedes attacks, Diomede lunged at Aphrodite and cut her hand. She fled to Mt. Olympus where Zeus told her to stay away from

    In the closing days of the Trojan War, all the attempts at peace having failed and disintegrated into war, one man catches the eyes and ears of the bright-eyed goddess, Athena. Leaning against his chariot, Diomedes calls upon Athena to allow him to gain vengeance against the Trojan archer, Pandarus. Not only does she renew his fighting strength, but also she lets fall from his eyes the mist obscuring the gods so he can then differentiate between them and the other mortal combatants. Despite this, she instructs him to not attempt a head on fight with the immortals, but rather to engage only other men. The one exception to this rule is Aphrodite, whom Diomedes is encouraged to engage with vigour. This seems to illustrate one of the recurring characteristics of the Epic genre: a lifting up of the focus to things beyond the realms of mere mortality. By practically telling her champion to attack Love, Athena gives not only Diomedes, but also the reader themselves a blood rush that can only come from a challenge so much greater than simple combat.
