Over the past year, I have developed skills, such as time management and prioritization, that have helped me succeed as a student at MTSU. Additionally, completing a thesis while attending classes and working has helped me become an independent student. To explain, over the course of the entire project, I had only two deadlines, one for the proposal submission and one for thesis submission. As a result, I had to create my own deadlines for various aspects of the thesis, such as data collection and analysis.…

One has to approach school as an added duty in one’s life. I must add an extra responsibility to my daily chores and activities. I am venturing into an activity I have not done any schooling for over 30 plus years now. School is something I must learn all over again. This changes our everyday routines to a point that we all must learn to work well with this new education. I am glad that in the past I had learned great tools to work with while working on these new responsibilities. Making it great while I was getting my A.S. degree in Florida Tech College out of Orlando, FL. Back then everything was paper and pencil or pen. Both must be taken on with kid gloves. But as long as I keep in mind the goals created for school and stick to them I should have no trouble working out any obstacles that come my…

Chances are adult learners having other life responsibilities such as parent, full-time job, helping their elders, and among other things can help them succeed in college because their social experiences can give them tools that they already possess to use in their academic studies. However, trying to do multiple roles can cause adult learners less time to participate in on campus social life and time for studying (Ross-Gordon, 2011). The diversity of colleges now brings a different atmosphere to the campus. Majority of enrolled students in the past was students fresh out of high-school. Students who attend college now are a mixture of young and older adults. The fact that colleges have to recognize the climate change, they will have to accommodate adult learners who have other responsibilities. As an example, class schedules, credit programs, flexibility in locations, student services, distant learning, accelerated courses, and degrees and certificates offers for students will previous degrees; colleges will have to offer these services to this particular demographic to…
