Creative Writing About Fishing
An experience full of nature, showed me how beautiful nature really is. When

my brothers and I arrived to Longview Lake the sun had just started rising. My

brothers and I went with the intent of catching big catfish and largemouth bass although, it was

my first time actually fishing with my brothers. My older brother told me I probably wouldn't

catch a fish my first time fishing with him but this is experience proved him wrong.

Stepping out of the car, the surprisingly warm weather approached me. I had been fishing

before, but this time different. After stretching from the long car ride, I figured it was time to

begin.

With the car unloaded, it was time for me to cast my first line to test my luck. As I picked

By this time, I realized the waiting

game would take a little longer than expected.

There I was, staring over the wavy lake with healthy, green algae. While waiting I

notice how the geese swam in a group to keep themselves safe. I also saw how the

small red cardinals flew together to keep themselves safe. Though the temperature was

about medium, we could still taste the thick lake air. While looking around the lake’s

environment I found observing more than fishing. Although I was here to be fishing, I found

myself more caught up in a daydream. I actually found myself in too much of a daydream.

As I was observing the lake, I had looked back at my brother's old fishing pole and

there it was, shaking and shaking. At this moment I realized I had caught a fish but I

hadn't really caught a fish. I began to reel this huge fish in but he was a strong fighter.

Experienced fishermen know that a huge fish plus an inexperienced boy equals no

catch. While reeling the fish, I felt the tension on the line increasing. That was when I

heard a very light thump. At the time I felt the thump, I also felt absolutely

He was at lake Amistad he was fishing there to see what is was like before his tournament started. He was getting the feel for it saying their where big fish as he was reeling in his line he said something thinking it was snagged. But then his line was turning really tight he knew a fish was on he was going at it awhile and soon caught after a long struggle. It weighed at 12 lbs and 13oz. That's a giant fish. That’s probably two sixth grade tracker keepers. And maybe even three and those are stuffed to the brim.…

Jerry and I started our first day together around 8 in the morning, he was very laid back and treated lobstering as a hobby rather than a job, not to say we wouldn’t work hard. I met him in front of my apartment and we drove to the Portland harbor where he bought the bait we would use for that day. He uses haddock, which was fileted the night before and sold, by the barrel to the local lobstermen. After we loaded the barrels of dead haddock, we were off to Falmouth to load the boat. Jerry has been lobster fishing for almost 20 years and is very passionate about lobstering. He has 800 traps in the water which is the maximum amount allowed by the State of Maine. He has accumulated this many over the years after starting with only 25 traps. He has ten traps on a string, so he has 80 strings in the water. Once arriving to the Falmouth Town Landing my real work began. Jerry rowed out to his boat that was secured on a mooring, and I was in charge of dragging the barrels of bait down to…

The last of the ripples had just dissipated when I got to the spot he had disappeared. I took a gulp of air and dove under the brownish surface. I tried to open my eyes, but the filthy water stung and I couldn't see more than an inch in front of me. I felt around blindly and frantically.…

“You’ll just be cold now and not hungry.” Everyone got settled in we got our poles set up with the right weights and lures. That proved to be quite difficult due the fact that our fingers hadn’t fully thawed yet. We dropped our lines into the water and hoped for the best especially with the luck we’ve had the past few years in the same general area. We fished for a while and didn’t get any bites so we added more weight to the lines so the bait would sink deeper and hopefully that would be where the fish were. We dropped our lines into the water and almost immediately my father had something on his line. He reeled in and the fish continued to fight. The fish came out of the water and flopped onto the ice above gasping for air. The monster he reeled in was a walleye no more than five inches long. “I didn’t know we were fishing for sharks.” I said…

Some years it's really tough to catch something, then there was like the summer of ‘07. We caught over 300 fish in that one week. Fishing is really special to me, my grandpa was basically a father figure to me and we bonded through it. He would take me every weekend and fish until the sun goes down. Now that he is gone, I find in myself to keep fishing, since it has become a true love and passion. My uncle has filled that father figure role in my life these past couple years. Shows up to my golf meets, supports my decisions in life, pushes me to be better every day. He is a very careful kind of guy. He is always prepared for the worst, even when we are our fishing in the boat. As the week goes on it becomes more challenging to not sleep in for an extra hour. We really didn't get out onto the water until nine that morning. There was still some fog out on the water, but it was good enough to drive across the lake. See, from where we put in the boat is around twenty miles from where we actually fish. This was always a problem because this would eat up all the gas in the tank. Later that day, it was around four. It takes around 1 hour to drive the boat back to the ramp. I'm starting to pack…

It’s my day off; we’ve landed at the island of Tristan D’Acunha. It’s a beautiful island with perfect weather conditions. It felt good to finally be back on dry land. Our ship has run out of food so I volunteered to go look for food. We had men fishing, men hunting, and men looking for food that’s been growing. I was searching for grown food when I came across a spring of fresh water. I knew we were running low on fresh water so I ran back to the ship, brought some help and hauled tons of drinking water to the ship. When we got back the captain had our meal ready, it wasn’t much but at least it was something. All we had was fish to eat but there was plenty enough there to feed the crew. The fish was gray in color with a bunch of black dots on the upper half of the body. Coming down the side of the fish looked to be a reddish almost pink stripe.…
