Cursive Legacy

Tennessee, are now trying to legislate a cursive comeback (Turner). As I have said previously, the states of Arkansas, North Carolina, Indiana, and many others have already passed bills to make the instruction of cursive mandatory. This means so much because people have made their voices heard. After all these people have decided to get up and say something about this issue to the important people such as, mayors, representatives, principals, so they can do something about it and they can make it part of the school day. Not only are people saying that cursive needs to be taught they are bringing facts and other subjects into the argument. Teachers said that they spend about 60 minutes, or 15 minutes a day, on teaching cursive, the amount recommended by handwriting experts (Downs). So if people spend that little bit of time to practice cursive or to help teach someone cursive,w e can keep the cursive “legacy” going. Not only can you just practice cursive you can also start a petition. Many people have tried this but they were not successful. I have looked online and found many petitions. Sadly, those petitions did not have enough signatures. Not enough people knew about the issue and that led to the downfall of those petitions. But now that more people are aware, more petitions can be made and can hopefully get enough signatures to get something done. Especially if we can use social media to share. Let’s make this go viral. There are many things you can do but one thing is keep it true. All of these people I have talked about have said or done something and they need reason to keep going and fighting for cursive. So take a stand and do something, weather it would be writing an article or telling someone about it, trying to get them to do something. Just remember don’t give
