Cursive Writing: What Should It Be Taught In Schools?

Cursive writing seems to hold a sentimental value to many people, but should sentimental value be the determining factor of whether or not something should be taught in schools? Personally, I don't think so.
Technology is expanding more rapidly now than it ever has before, and along with that comes more things to learn. Things that are critical for children to know in order to become a valid, functioning part of our society. In today's day and age, learning to write in cursive just isn't one of those critical things.
