I want to be a captain because I want to help our team and the people on it strive as dancers. Some people on the team have not danced before so I would love to help those girls see how fun dance is, and help everyone grow as dancers. One unique strength I would bring to this team is my helpful critics. If I see a dancer's toe not pointed or and arm positioned past its point I will let the dancer know and encourage her in a kind way when she fixes it. Another unique strength I would bring to the team is my teaching skills. I can teach a part of a routine to the whole team, or during break, go over a certain part with a small group of dancers. In addition I always keep a positive role modeling attitude, like getting the dancers excited and pumped up for a performance, or just keep them having a good time during dance class if they get frustrated over something. I communicate well with adults and can help the coaches accomplish goals for the dancers. I showed courage when two girls came to me to help them practice for last year’s dance tryouts. As a confident leader I helped them go through routines and certain skills they were struggling with, and most importantly helped them grow their confidence. We all cooperated well together and it ended up paying off as we were accepted into the dance team. Outside dance, I demonstrate leadership skills in several areas. I was selected as a Building Connections leader, I have been a leader, this year I have been selected to be a BC leader of my school. BC leaders a small group of eighth grade students chosen by all the teachers to help run school assemblies and teach the sixth graders skills for middle school.
