Deer Lady Monologue
The Deer Ladies Leaves twirled around me as I stood in the middle of this lonely, yet enchanting forest. A small flutter fills the air as hundreds of leaves float down from the treetops, then the silence returns as the leaves touch the surface of a nearby pool. A faint song rang through the trees, accompanied by the occasional cry of a raven. If only every day could be like this. silent and peaceful, yet hear the storm brewing. Alas, we shall see through this one as we’ve done with the rest. I would hear a small voice calling “Virginia”. Virginia. Where did she run off to.”. “It must be Claire, I wonder what she needs.” I would mutter as I trotted off in the direction of the voice. As I approached the clearing where the small, blonde figure …show more content…
“Well,” said Marilyn, adjusting the collar of her dress. “Either way you almost missed lunch, here you have a bowl of soup.” she said, handing each of us a bowl of soup. In the small wooden bowl, there were chunks of vegetables and a multitude of spices. As Claire and I took a bite and Claire sighed, “The girls are truly great at what they do,” she said as if she were slightly sad. “That's what makes them better than the rest!” I said, trying to stir her from the sad thought. Claire would sigh again and say “but- what about-” Before she could finish I cut her off saying “It doesn't matter what ”technology” humility has, we have better, and we are happy! So really, does anything else matter?” Claire would giggle “Virginia is humanity, not humility.” she said, stifling a laugh. “I guess you're right,” I said, chuckling. “I guess it is humanity”. One of the girls ran over to us and said “Today is my day to collect bowls!”. We both chuckled as the young girl collected our bowls before running off to the other group of girls surrounding the small creek that ran through the camp. One of the girls yelled “Hey! Thanks for the great post …show more content…
After a while of watching over her, I finally decided to head back to camp, as I wandered a raven cried it’s melancholy cry as if it had lost someone dear to them. Once I neared the camp, I could see the figure of one of the girls, as I neared her I could hear the sound of panic. The girl, Mary, ran to me, yelling, “The boy! What's his name again? He’s gone. As soon as I heard this I bounded into the camp and Mary followed behind me, I burst into the camp screaming “Justin? Thanks for the great review Justin! Where are you dear?”. As I’m frantically running around the camp, Claire trots up to me and places a hand on my quivering shoulder, “Don’t worry Virginia, we are going to find him.” she exclaims, easing my nerves slightly. But what if we don't? What if that awful creature that got the girl gets him? What if- What if-” I stuttered as I teared up. Claire grabbed my shoulders and yelled, “Stop that! We will find him, I promise you.. I fell to my knees, “I shouldn't have stayed long. I- I- I should have just come back. then he wouldn't have run off.” I stuttered those words before having streams of tears running down my face, Claire sat down next to me and embraced

After a moment of resting, the girl stood and walked on. After continuing for only a short time, saw a few downed branches that had fallen against another tree. Sarah crawled under them and sat, hoping they'd provide a decent place to sleep. The girl trembled as the darkness wrapped itself around her. Every creak in the trees, every snapping twig, caused a sudden rush of fear. She curled into the fetal position trying to keep warm and make herself feel better. More so than even the noises of the forest, the fear that she had no idea how she got out here, kept her up all night. She kept her eyes open, staring into darkness. Thoughts raced through her head about what happened to her. Why did her head hurt? Why was she in the woods? Did someone actually leave her here? What was she doing before she came to be here? She couldn't remember anything.…
