I. Introduction
A. Attention Getter: A fresh manicure helps you look clean and put-together. But professional manicures can be expensive and time-consuming. Why go to a salon when it's cheaper and looks just as great when you do it yourself?
B. You may think that people might not notice your nails, but people do! Healthy, well-groomed nails will never go out of style and learning how to do your own manicure at home can help save trips to the salon. In this demonstration I will be showing you how to paint your nails and achieve that professional look that we all love.
II. Body
A. MATERIALS: To get started we need to get some basic tools to help achieve our look. Nail polish remover, cotton balls, nails clipper, nail file, hand lotion or cream, your choice of nail polish, a clear top coat, and a Q-tip.
B. REMOVE ANY OLD NAILPOLISH: If you have old nail polish, make sure to remove it from your nail using a cotton ball and acetone.
C. CUT & FILE YOUR NAILS: Use nail clippers and trim your nails. Then, using a nail file, file the nail and create a smooth and clean shape. DO NOT file your nails in the same direction, it actually weakens the nail and causes breakage.
1. If you want, after this step you can also soak your hands in hot water to remove excess dirt and to soften your hands & cuticles. You can also choose to put some sort of skin moisturizer (hand lotion) to soften your hands.
D: BASE COAT: Okay, so now that we've done all the prepping, we can start the polishing. Cover the nail with a base coat or nail hardener. This will even out and ridges and unevenness that may still be on the nail which helps the polish to last longer, and keeps the color from staining your nails.
E: PAINT: Now that we're ready to start the painting, you can choose any color that you want to wear. Begin painting nails using a thin coat. Dip the brush into the bottle of polish and as you
