Alexander the great had a lot to owe to his family, thanks to their influence he gained the desire to become a conqueror and a successful men during his lifetime he achieved enormous that made him remarkable throughout history. He is still remembered today for his greatness and his achievements. During his childhood he spent most of the time with his mother and had some difficulties trying to get on well with his father. Although his family had a huge impact on his life, his own personality contributed him most of his triumphs.
Olympias, Alexander´s mother was present for him during his childhood; she was Alexander´s support and guider. Encouraging him to believe that he had the destiny of be the conqueror of the Persian Empire, she gave him ambitiousness and transmitted him her passionate and emotional nature. Alexander and his mother had a good relationship, but it is said that she was extremely possessive with him and she wasn’t to share his son with anybody else.
Alexander´s mother constantly stimulated him on having confidence so that he could increase his self-esteem and being able to start working on skills. He owed a lot to his mother because she gave him a vision and a goal. Her influence was vital on Alexander wanting to persevere on being a conqueror.
She had a destiny planned for him but also she wanted him to success and shine, in order for her to gain a social status above the other Philip’s wives. Also, if Alexander became the legitimate son of Philip and take his throne, therefore she would be at Alexander´s side and enjoy the commodities that a king could provide to his mother.
