Ani Grigoryan

Question 1.

Everybody has a favorite animal. Whether it's a horse, fish, dog, or pig, how do you feel knowing that hundreds of these animals are being killed everyday for people to eat? Do you feel strongly about it, and want to make a difference, or do you only care about how good the meat tastes? It's hard to give up something you've been eating your whole life, but if you take baby steps to your final conclusion- becoming a vegetarian- it will make a huge difference. Jonathan Safran Foer in his book “Eating Animals” emphasized how other cultures eats dog meat, which is for me is horrible. I can't imagine how people can play with dogs, take them outside to for walk, sleep with them kiss them and after all

I'm saying that from my experiment. When I was small kid, about five or six years old, I liked to catch birds and play with them, because I like them, I had neighbor who also liked to catch birds but for different situations, hi like to fry them and eat. He suggested me to eat with him. I ran away from their house, because it seemed for me as a cannibalism. After few day again I went to his house to play with his kids. They had dinner, and invite me to eat with them. He pouted piece of meat in my plates and said “ This is a chicken meat, eat and you will like it.” I ate and finish it. Chicken really had very good taste, what I never ate anything like that. It was little sweet. After, when I finish my food, he ask me did you know what you just ate? And I'm like ” Yes! That was a baby chicken, and I really like it.” He stopped me and said: “ That was a little bird meat.” I got shocked for myself. I felt nauseous, and starts to cry, because I felt sorry for that bird. I had two birds in the cage in my house. I was feeding them every day, changing papers under them, and always liked to talk to them, like they're my friends. After that situation I ran back home and I let my birds to fly away. I didn't want to heart them

Jonathan Safran Foer’s article, “Let Them Eat Dog”, makes a compelling argument. Foer proposes that dog, like other animals, is as fairly consumable, nutritious, and deserving to be eaten as the rest of the meat found in the deli aisle. For a serious argument, the article keeps the reader interested with a humorous technique and alliteration. Foer presents the long history of dog-consumption, how that has changed, and how in present-day, having dog in our diet would benefit us, not only nutritionally, but economically and socially.…

Michael Pollan embarked upon an incredible journey throughout America’s Heartland, known as the Corn Belt, to bring us his eye-opening account of just exactly what is behind putting food on our table in “The Omnivore’s Dilemma.” In the first three chapters of the first section of the book, Industrial: Corn, Pollan not only questions what exactly is in the foods we eat, but also where, precisely, does it come from? Though Pollan covers all the critical elements of a good read; conflict, dastardly villains, and even sex; all with touches of sardonic humor, one must keep in mind this is non-fiction, and be prepared to be shocked and somewhat disturbed at his findings.…

Jeremy Rifkin 's article, “A Change of Heart About Animals” argues that animals are more like humans than we imagine and as a result should be treated with the care that they deserve. Rifkin develops and supports his argument using facts about the animals and these facts end up touching hearts. In order for Rifkin to get his point across he uses a smart technique by using pathos and plays with the emotions of his audience. Rifkin loves animals and his passion and love evokes emotions that the audience can feel. Animals can feel and have emotions similar to ours. in agreement with Rifkin, I argue that it is wrong and inhumane to kill or abuse animals because they feel, they deserve to have space and should be valued as much as humans are It is wrong no animal should be killed due to abuse or testing, it is wrong and inhumane.…

10211596 In my paper, I will be looking at the issue of should we kill animals for resources or should we not kill animals as resources which was seen in the Indigenous peoples vs. Endangered Species case study. Most humans utilize animals for a source of food every day. I will draw on the Cora Diamond’s concept of speciesism on this issue. The salient features of the issue are should us humans support animal rights or should we not support the rights of animals? People who support the rights of animals often avoid eating meat, while people who don’t support the rights of animals eat meat.…

For animals, its a different story. Some animals tend to eat their own species as a part of their natural diet. As example, King snakes tend feed on other snakes, including venomous ones. Or even sometimes, you could catch chimps killing and eating chimp babies. Cannibalism among animals can occur for territorial reasons, like a male lion, who would kill cubs that arent his when assuming control of a new pride.…
