Do Curfews Keep Teens Out Of Trouble?
When it comes to teens having curfews, it does help keep them out of trouble. Parents don’t like setting a curfew for their teens, but it is sometimes enforced. Curfews where set in the 19th century when America's cities swelled with millions of unsupervised teens. Like laws mandating school attendance and banning child labor, the argument went, curfews would improve individual lives even as they protected the social order (Zimmerman). Curfews are to help protect the teens from getting in trouble with the law. The curfew being set helps with the crime rate, drunk driving, having the teens understand why there is a curfew, and helping the police officers.

Why would a parent want to put their teenage at risk to be a victim of a drunk driving accident? Well they wouldn’t because no wants to be a victim of a drunk driving accident. With enforcing the curfew of teens, it will keep them from being out late and ending up in an accident due to whatever they were doing.
If all teens understand why there is a curfew it would make things a lot easier, but not all teenagers value the curfew law. Curfews develop values within a teen, but for them to understand the importance of it and its effect on society makes it even better and easier for a parent to set the curfew rule. It is believed that the curfew law is enforced to keep teenager’s parents out of court arguing and saving money from the wrongdoing of their child (Correll).
