Tyranny. Something that has torn apart nations and civilizations for centuries. No wonder our founding fathers worked so hard to inhibit it. James Madison, the father of the constitution, wrote that power in the hands of one, few, or many is the definition of tyranny. The existing constitution, The Articles of Confederation, was not working for the young America. There was no chief executive, judicial system, or a central government to unite the states. After just separating from a tyrant king, the framers of our constitution wanted to create a strong defense against tyranny. The systems protecting our government against tyranny is federalism, separation of powers, and balance of powers.…

C.D. Watson tells an emotional story about a dog named Maxx and a woman named Monika. Watson states that, “The rescue agency that took Maxx found him to be a mess. His long, golden fur was matted and soiled with feces. It took 8 hours to clean him for foster care placement.” When Maxx was adopted by Monika, she had noticed that he had troubles walking, so she took him into the vet for an X-ray. After being crammed in a wire cage that was way to small for him, Maxx’s knees were turned to the wrong side after being dislocated. Maxx had also suffered from hip dysplasia and a severe ear infection in both ears. All of Maxx’s injuries were caused by the poor caretaking skills of the breeder. After four happy years out of the puppy mill, Maxx passed away due to problems the doctors could not fix. Thanks to a puppy mill, a wonderful dog like Maxx, did not get to live the life he deserved without pain.…

About twelve years ago, my aunt and uncle owned two dogs of the pit bull breed. These dogs might as well have been their kids; they even signed our Christmas cards every year. In one day, everything they knew had disappeared. A team of police officers were supposed to raid the house next door for possession of drugs, but instead, raided my aunt and uncle’s house. Their two dogs were lying on the couch when the cops broke in the door. Because of the dog’s breed, the cops automatically opened fire on the innocent dogs. Blood marks showed one dog lying in the corner and the other lying on the couch, both helpless. Now, the government wants to ban this breed from cities across the nation. They are uneducated on this breed or obviously have never owned one, for if they had, there would have never been a ban on these affectionate, energetic, loyal dogs.…
