Donald Trump's Argument Against Abortion
With the prospect of Donald Trump becoming the new president, the stance on abortion is shifting drastically in some states. Restrictive bills that were repealed for years, suddenly pass the House. The president still hasn't decided on which side he is.

In my country - Belgium - abortion is legal since 1990. The law was - and still is - contentious. Our monarch at the time - king Boudewijn I - stepped down for one day for he opposed the bill to legalize abortion. For much of the 20th century, abortion was illegal. Still, many cases occurred and were often documented by local authorities. So does the 1917 case mentioned below.

Ben Shapiro’s intended audience are those already on his side. It's very unlikely that he is also intending to target the opponents as he vilifies them at first sentence and the usual way to convince someone to switch sides is to first find a middle ground, he doesn't. You can see the way he vilifies his opposition by the word choice he uses and the quotes. “They say that so long as the representative votes the right way on the issues, they can murder dogs in the backyard or allegedly molest young girls.” & “I would be happy to give him a blowjob just to thank him for keeping abortion legal,” - Nina Burleigh makes his side seem like the better side as his side does not contain those degenerates, however he ever credits the other side…

One relevant United States Supreme Court case is Roe v. Wade. In 1854 Texas law prohibited abortion except “for the purpose of saving the life of the mother.” “Jane Roe” (Norma McCorvey) was denied an elective abortion under that law, and therefore, filed a lawsuit claiming that this Texas law denied her part of her constitutional rights. The Supreme Court ruled in her favor, declaring that the Texas law violated her constitutional right to have an abortion. The Court, however, acknowledged that the Constitution does not explicitly mention a right to abortion but said such a right was part of the “right to privacy.” The decision of the Court was that abortion must be permitted for any reason a woman chooses until the child becomes viable.…

An assiduous dissension among American citizens pertains to the topic of abortion. Many believe abortion to be an inhumane and immoral decision, where others see no immorality or ill justification of the topic. On November 13th, the Supreme Court agreed to hear a case dealing with this very issue. While some argue over the moral convictions of abortion, this case focuses on the health of women and their reproductive system. The author of the article “Abortion, Back at the Supreme Court” argues that the decision of the Fifth Circuit was based on an unjustifiable desire to deter women from seeking abortions.…

Abortion has many different meanings to various people. Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy before a fetus is formed. Abortions are most likely to occur before the third trimester. Roe v. Wade was a lawsuit that established the unconstitutionality of forbidding abortion from women. The Supreme Court stated that the decision of abortion should be left up to the doctor and the patient. The Due Process Clause protects people with the right to privacy and therefore, this should include a women’s right to terminate a pregnancy. Most liberals and democrats agree that women should be able to have the right to do what they want with their bodies, no matter how cruel one might think it is. Conservative republicans on the other hand consider the possible child a human and are fighting for the rights of the non-existent child. Both sides are heavily opinionated which…

Abortion laws began to appear in the 1820s, forbidding abortion after the fourth month of pregnancy. Most abortions had been outlawed by 1900, and even though it had been outlawed illegal abortions were still frequent. Many women had died from illegal abortions in 1960. By 1965 all 50 states banned abortion. Roe V. Wade is the historic supreme court decision that legalized abortion in January 22, 1973. The supreme court held that in earlier months of pregnancy a woman and her doctor could choose to have an abortion without legal restrictions, they chose to base their decision on the right to privacy and on the fourteenth amendment. Ever since the legalization of abortion, 57 million unborn babies have been killed. Compared to other medical procedures abortion is unsafe. For…

Many pro-life supporters demanded that congress defund the organization, and use the money to send to other organizations that do not offer abortions. Republican Presidential candidates Ted Cruz and Rand Paul have voiced their opinions that they will not use federal money to support Planned Parenthood. Both candidates included that they will not support must-pass governmental funding legislation if it includes funding for the organization. This action could possibly risk a governmental shutdown. The reason both candidates are threatening to do this is because Obama would veto legislation that would defund Planned Parenthood. Many people will wait and see the other presidential views on Planned Parenthood on tonight’s Republican debate. Citizens will also wait and see if both parties are able to agree on an already dwindling federal budget for the next year, and if that will include Planned Parenthood or…

Donald Trump’s stand against abortion is one reason that I chose him as my candidate. Donald Trump says that “he is pro-life, but he once described himself as ‘very pro-choice’ and says he has since ‘evolved’ on the issue” (qtd. in Berenson 1). Some people are against Trump because of his being pro-choice in the past and now changing his mind, but in my opinion, it only matters what he is for now; people do change. Donald Trump also says that there should be some form of punishment for women if abortion does become illegal, and to a degree, he is right (qtd. in Berenson 1). If abortion does become illegal, and a woman has an abortion anyway, that would be the same difference as other crimes since it would be illegal, but also the doctor that performed it should be held responsible too because it was done illegally. I believe that life begins in the womb, and each…

One decision, among many others such as same-sex marriage, that we will likely see overruled is Roe v. Wade, a decision that expanded reproductive rights for women. “President-elect Trump has publicly pledged to overturn Roe and promised punishment for the one in three American women who will have an abortion in her lifetime,” said Nancy Northup, president of the Center for Reproductive Rights. She was referring to Roe v. Wade…
