Dora the Explorer and Safety Regulations
1. Do you agree with Gever Tulley that the increasing safety regulations for children are limiting children’s opportunities to interact with the world around them? Why or why not?
Yes I do agree with Gever Tulley that the increasing safety regulations for child’s opportunities to interact with the world around them. Putting limits on children when they are so young, they don’t learn anything but the perfection. If they experience the things like playing with fire, and etc. then they will know from a young age that everything in life is different.
2. What can children learn from playing with fire?
What children learn from playing with fire is that they learn basic principles about fire, intake, and etc. They will learn things that they can’t get from watching Dora The Explorer.
3. Which of the “dangerous things” do you think would most beneficial for children? Why?
The most beneficial “dangerous thing” for children is the taking apart things. Children like puzzles and braking things. Both of those tie to taking things apart. The children will be less likely to get hurt from doing this, and I believe they will be most entertained.
4. What role do you think parents should play in helping their children explore the world? How can parents protect their children and let them explore?
Parents should allow their children to be more open-minded at a young age. For example, like Tulley said, playing with fire, they can allow them to play with fire but be right next to them so they do not get hurt.
