Often varying in message and purpose, commercials and advertisements have proven to be successful forms and methods of mass communication. The goals of advertisements is to appeal to their target audience in an effort to encourage or persuade that demographic to purchase their products and become their customer. Not only taking into account the obvious message, it is important to also analyze and look into the subcomponents, such as imagery and dialogue, that makes conveying their message successful.…

As a neutral audience member this commercial seemed like it was aimed towards a more sympathetic audience who was already sold on the idea of owning a truck and could be persuaded to buy a Chevy. This seemed clear due to the fact that they did not bother to list the trucks features or capabilities but instead showed a family and their connection to the truck.…

A crucial component in the automotive industry is advertising of the company’s vehicles. The companies must ensure that their message is clearly and effectively conveyed to potential consumers. It is vital for Ford to give the most convincing message that lets audiences know that Ford’s product is superior upon comparison. On February 7, 2016 Ford launched a successful commercial during Super Bowl 50 informing the audience about Ford’s new half-ton pick up truck. Ford Motor Company strategically launched the commercial to remain superior in the market competing with domestic and foreign automotive companies producing a half-ton pick up. The “Battle Tested” Ford commercial effectively uses elements of the rhetorical triangle to successfully persuade audiences into buying the 2015 Ford F-150. Ford’s “Battle Tested” commercial is successful because of Ford’s reputation as a company, the credible source of the United States government rating the Ford F-150 safest half-ton pick up in the…

This years Superbowl commercial I picked was the Mountain dew puppy monkey baby because it was catchy and kind of weird and that's why I remember it. The commercial is about 3 minutes long and it is just Jerry Seinfeld trying to persuade a ordinary man with money, aliens, ziplines, and speed boats to give him the new Acura NSX and at the end when Jerry was about to get the car Jay Leno flies in with a jetpack and persuades the man to give him the car and he ends up flying away with the man and the car keys. SLAP “Keep your hands off my mama, keep your hands off my Doritos!!!” This was the phrase that sent millions into a roaring laugh during the 2010 Superbowl Doritos commercial. This commercial says a lot about Doritos, considering the little boy holds them to the standard of his own mother implies that his love for them is just the same as the love he has for his mother. In many was this commercial was effective. One way was showing the little boy picking a fight with someone who is clearly bigger and stronger than him, another was the love the boy had for his Doritos made me feel like I just had to have some just to see if I feel the same way. Lastly the young boys emotion towards the man conveyed a sense of anger and seriousness implying that, at that very moment there was absolutely nothing more serious that a strange man in his house eating his Doritos.…

For my rhetorical analysis ad, I chose to do a Save the Children foundation ad from Mexico. I wanted to pick an ad that had a lot to say even if it had very few words. This ad I feel has a very powerful message against child abuse. It shows the cycle of child abuse that occurs way too often. The abused child statistically ends up being the abusing adult in the cycle. Save the Children foundation has quite a few of these “break the cycle” ads. They all have the same core concept a child becoming the abusing adult. Every one showing the different ways a child is abused in today’s society and how that turns into a vicious cycle.…

“Need a moment? Grab a Twix!” We all know this famous line from every Twix candy bar commercial. The question “Need a moment?” as a general question can refer to a variety of things, ever realize though, that in every Twix commercial that the ‘needed moment’ is a moment for the men to find a cover story to save their ass? And how after ‘taking a moment’ to eat a Twix they come up with a believable excuse that every woman accepts without question. If you’ve never thought about that before you now are. One question that came to my mind when I found this similarity in commercials, which just might also be going through your minds as well, was why. Why would a company choose to advertise their product this way? The answer is simple; because it works. The commercials are using simple rhetoric to convince its audience to buy their product.…

Adverts, they’re everywhere. Each evening we see hundreds on our televisions, they’re plastered over billboards, shouted about every ten minutes on our radios, on every single page of our newspapers and even subtly dropped into our games. Companies use adverts to force feed us with their latest products and services in an attempt to encourage, persuade or manipulate an audience into buying their brand. Occasionally, some adverts are beautifully designed to capture the viewer into their story, I believe Honda have developed a way of creating adverts that are simple yet unexpected.…

The first appeal is the need for cognizance, which means the need to satisfy curiosity or to learn. The video uses this all throughout the commercial, first the video opens up and the viewer hears the words “Let's see what curiosity can do” and sees a pair of hands. This makes it seem like the viewer is the one manipulating the hands and the voice. The hands manipulate a lot of different things from vehicles, to robots, and then to an airplane. The viewer is also exposed to how products are improved at…

With the slogan, diapers are disposable, Babies are not. To help me promote my campaign I used the advertising. I though that using advertising to convince voters that the Anti Abortion campaign was a good idea. To promote my campaign and to persuade the voters I made a pen, stickers, flyer, tee shirt, electronic business card and a website. On all of these products I use my slogan Diapers are disposable babies. I used this slogan because it has an impact on people when they hear it so I used it to my advantage to get my message across that abortion.…

    1. CATEGORY: MOBILE PHONES BRAND: LAVA A10 Brief Description of the Commercial: The advertisement shows a cashier (an attractive lady), in a retail mall, meeting two shoppers at the payment counter. The first man carries an ordinary phone (though it subtly looks like Samsung Corby because of the yellow back cover) and the cashier hands him a few candies in lieu of change. The second man carries the Lava A10 phone and on seeing the phone, the cashier hands him a few condoms in lieu of change, with the catch line in the background stating “Separates the men from the boys”… Target Audience: The target audience, as inferred from the commercial, is urban male youth who wants to be perceived as macho and grown up. The commercial also highlights that it is not only looks but also the accessories one carry that helps one to project a macho image. Since the setting is in a shopping mall, the target audience is perceived to be urban. Product Proposition: The product is mobile phone. The commercial does not highlight any features of the phone like camera, blue-tooth, memory, music, etc. It shows the phone at the end and that too for a very small duration. It only stresses on the style and design and its reaction/impact on others. It plays on the insight that men wants to be perceived as macho and masculine and the phone helps them create that impression. Alternate approach: The commercial hits indirectly at its competitor (Samsung Corby), when the cashier hands out candies in lieu of change to the person carrying the phone with similar looks of Corby. As a result the viewers are reminded of Samsung upon seeing the advertisement paid by Lava. The main objective of this communication is to highlight the sleek style and design of the phone and not to fight head on with its competitor. This indirect reference is thus unwanted and I propose to show an ordinary phone, instead…
