The world defaults to chaos. In this chaos the goal of a person is to be happy. The book 12 rules for Life by Dr. Jordan B. Peterson shows us how to bring order to this chaotic world so that we may find meaning and happiness. Stand up straight with your shoulders back, treat yourself like someone you are responsible for helping, and set your house in perfect order before you criticise the world are but three of the twelve rules laid out for us to follow. Every being wants to be happy, so every being wants to have a purpose.

You must treat yourself like someone you are responsible for helping. “We can have contempt for human beings in general, because we are flawed, breakable. But we know ourselves better than anyone else.” - J. B. Peterson ((Second Link 00:23)). Here Dr. Peterson shows us that how we view other people and others wrong doing that this could lead to a contempt of, not only other people, but ourselves as well. This kind of self destructive behavior is a huge enemy to happiness. How are we to improve if we cant even get over ourselves? The answer is that we can’t. We must treat ourselves as if we were someone who we were responsible for, this would mean that we need to accept ourselves, and set our goals to improve ourselves so that we may be ABLE to help another. This theory goes along with the Humanistic theory of self actualization. If we are able to accept ourselves and push towards our true potential we can see the road to lasting happiness. He goes on to explain how this is no easy feat “It's not a moralistic attack, it’s an encouragement to give yourself a bit of the benefit of the doubt.” (J. B. Peterson Second Link 2:10). He shows us how it can be a difficult path to truly accept yourself and to treat yourself like you deserved at least a small modicum of respect. However it is a very cutial step to bringing order to a life filled with
