First of all, for advertising, the government could provide the information about drug abuse through advertising on TV and social networking website e.g. Facebook, twitter etc. For the contents of advertising, the government could include the bad influences of taking drug e.g. mental problems, family problems and criminal problems. Besides, it would be better if the government provide some information about how to refuse taking drugs. It is possible that this would work, because advertising is the easiest way to spread the information to public and It is fast as well. Also, it would increase the public awareness of drug abuse and lower their chance of taking drug. So it seems likely that it could reduce the problem of drug abuse. However, some people think if the advertising fee is too expensive, it may not be cost-effective, but I think it is more cost-effective for the government to spend more on prevention than spend more on treatment.
Next is about the law enforcement, for law enforcement, the government could strengthen the drug policy. For example, provide more police manpower to stop the dealers and increase the punishments of selling or taking illegal drugs, like, increase fines. I think this would be effective because of deterrent effect. What I mean is, if they know how heavy the punishment is, they may feel scare because of it, so they won’t take drugs or sell drugs. Also, the policy could reduce the number of dealers and it would reduce the drug trading as well, so this would lower the criminal problem and minimise the problem of drug abuse. Actually, there are some government websites also suggested law enforcement to prevent and reduce the problems of drug abuse and they
