Also know as the Battle of Pittsburg Landing, The Battle of Shiloh took place from April 6th- April 7th 1862. The battle started when Confederate troops launched a surprise attack on General Ulysses Grant and his troops. Grant was waiting for supplies and reinforcements to launch an attack on the Confederates but the Confederates attacked first. In the early dawn off April 6th, a Union patrol found the Confederates ready for battle just a mile from the main Union army. Johnston attacked, driving the surprised Unioners back. They were so surprised, when they attacked some were still asleep or eating breakfast.…
Carter Druse was born in Virginia. He loved his parent, his home and the south. But he loved his country too. On 1861, US were divided by a civil war. Carter Druse, a southerner, decided to join the union army of the north. One morning, he told his father about his decision and was shocked but, told him to always do what is his duty. A few weeks later on his duty, he fell asleep and if someone saw him, he’ll be shot dead. Fortunately, no one has seen him. He was assigned to guard on the top of the valley which was only a few miles from his father’s house. Five union soldiers were hidden in the valley forest and their plan was to attack the southerners on the other side of the cliff. It was his duty to be sure that there’s no enemy soldier,…
Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee a historical movie that centers upon two Native American’s of the Sioux paints a picture of the tragedy of the Native American experience during the 19th century. The movie centers upon Sitting Bull a Native American chief and Charles Eastman a Native American whose education occurred outside the villages of his people. Splitting its narrative between the two characters, the movie coincides with one of the tragic incidents in the Native American history when the Sioux Indian tribe first succeeds at the Battle of Little Big Horn and later is slowly devastated by American Governments violation of signed treaties, and subsequent movement to reservations culminating in the massacre at Wounded Knee Creek. The movie’s concluding scene with the massacre of Wounded Knee Creek led to a negative trajectory that would impact the native population for generations.…

The purpose of this paper is to explain the two day battle, which has become known as the Battle of Shiloh. It will show how the battle began and how it ended, as well as the commanders of the Union forces and the Confederate forces. It will show how this battle, up to this time became one of the bloodiest battles on both sides. Information was collected from two sources online and from a book that describes the battle. I was surprise to learn that if Gen. Albert Sidney Johnston was not killed during this battle he could have been the overall Commander of the Confederate Army. I also was surprised in the fact that Maj. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant was almost relieved of command.…

The play begins with six young soldiers trying to get some sleep while cramped in a train on its way to boot camp in Biloxi, Mississippi. The main character, Eugene Morris Jerome, is wide-awake and writing observations of his comrades in a journal, which he stubbornly refers to throughout the play as his "memoirs." In his journal he announces the four goals he wants to accomplish before leaving the military: become a writer, fall in love, lose his virginity and not die. As this is going on, the other boys wake up and begin picking on and arguing over each other's sleeping habits, and the comedic exchanges begin. The other soldiers consist of an obnoxious macho type named Wykowski; a tough talking mama's boy named Selridge; an aspiring singer and comedic relief named Carney; a mild yet stubborn intellectual named Epstein; and a sensitive, mediator type named Hennessey. The men are all so different from one another, it's often difficult for them all to get along, but they manage. The banter between the men gives the play a lively sense of what it…

Before reading the story I imagine that it is going to be like any other war but in a concise way. Instead of being a civilian, I in the other am being a sniper, lying down on top of the roof over looking everyone. I see soldiers running around seeking for cover. I see dead bodies lying on cold cement, stepped on by rushing soldiers. The…
The third line of verse one, it mentioned that the soldier was once a farmer. The word whispering is onomatopoeia meaning the sun is whispering to the man about the memories the man used to have on the farm. It’s a soft and tender plus pleading together. “Unsown” means that the field has not seeded but yet the sun is shining now to tell the man that it’s the beginning of the planting season now. In other meaning, the word unsown is metaphor that the soldier is still too young for them to join the war, as they haven’t start their adult life yet.…
