When first arriving at Pitt, freshman year, I had no idea what my future had in store for me. I began working hard in my studies and getting involved around campus. Last summer, I secured an internship with BNY Mellon from a connection made at the Pitt Career Fair. While learning a lot about myself over the course of the summer, I was constantly being challenged, every day. Additionally, I had the opportunity to explore career paths within finance while at BNY Mellon. Through this, I learned about investment banking from a fellow intern and quickly grew captivated by the highly competitive and challenging atmosphere of the industry.
The path to investment banking is not an easy one, and knowing this, I realized I have to work tirelessly this year to accomplish my dream. A small, boutique investment banking firm in Pittsburgh has given me the opportunity for an unpaid internship during this …show more content…
(spring) semester in which I am continuously learning and building my experiences. Additionally, I have been offered an unpaid internship for this upcoming summer, with a boutique Investment Banking firm in which I hope to continue building my industry skills and knowledge. Living in New York is extremely expensive, but if awarded this scholarship, it will enable me to allocate money previously put towards college tuition to living expenses for the summer while easing the financial burden of tuition on my parents and myself. I have and continue to face many challenges along the way, but I won’t stop on my pursuit until I’ve either broken into investment banking or exhausted all of my resources to the point I know there’s nothing else I could have done.
Pitt Business produces strong, well-rounded leaders that can compete with top students from other universities.
In accomplishing my dream of obtaining a banking role, I aim to bridge the gap between Pitt and Wall St. Pitt has given me a passion and a vision that I didn’t have coming into college. Something that when I wake up in the morning, I know I’m going to work to get one step closer to. From my proven commitment to academics, campus leadership, and overall enthusiasm for everything Pitt, I believe I would be an excellent representative of the Edward Slack Scholarship, and Pitt Business in general. I can promise that I will stay committed to my career development, and furthermore, learn and grow as a student at the University of Pittsburgh. Thank you for your kind consideration and Hail to
Pitt!
Sincerely,
