Elks Club Reflection
The first time I went to the Elks club, I was with my grandmother and we went for dinner, and I ended up learning how to ballroom dance. After dinner, an older man came up to me and asked me to dance. After responding that I don't know how to, he taught me and I had a great time. The man was ninety-five years old and one of the best ballroom dancers I had ever seen. I truly believe that the spirit of the Elks is what has kept him able to do the thing he loved, and is a wonderful place to spend time. Now every time I visit my grandparents, we visit the Elks and it is one of the best things we do together each trip. The way that the members of the Elks club remember and respect a simpler time in history, one that values such a beautiful skill

On Saturday, I have attended a Pow Wow that was happening at the California State University of Long Beach. I knew what kind of event it was because this was my second time attending one. At the first Pow Wow, I was able to take the opportunity to volunteer for them and helped them out with the resting area for the dancers and other miscellaneous tasks. I also had the chance to walk around and explore what was provided and stayed at the event until the end. It has been over two years since I had gone to the first Pow Wow so I was excited to see once again the beauty and the uniqueness of the Native Americans and their culture.…

-I believe that it would be a great bumper sticker because wearing a seatbelt is something that is very important to do while driving. Most times people forget or simply hate wearing them because they feel uncomfortable. But a simple reminder of this would help many people avoid any disastrous situation. By wearing a seat belt a person can avoid getting a ticket. It could also lessen the force that could be applied to you if you were to have an accident while on the road. Wearing a seatbelt is something that is always found on a written test exam for getting your license. These are the reasons why I believe that a “KEEP CALM and FASTEN YOUR SEATBELT!” would be a great bumper sticker to have.…

The following interactions were derived from the writer’s therapy session with JO on 06/29/17. With the first exchange, the writer attempted to build rapport, and find out if JO had participated in therapy before, and, if so, what about therapy had worked for her. This appeared to be successful, because JO subsequently shared what she liked about certain therapists and what she did not like about others. The writer asked this question to build rapport and find out what had worked for JO in the past, so he could attempt to emulate it. The second exchange highlights the writer implementing reflection, empathy, and paraphrasing.…

Ever since I was young I remember dance always being one of those things that was always there when I needed it. Everyday I looked forward to going to class and working hard, doing my best to get better everyday. I officially started dancing when I was three, however, it wasn’t until I got to the age of around 10 or 11. This was about a year after I moved to Kansas City and when I just started going to the Kansas City Ballet. The whole experience changed my point of view completely over not just dance but ballet to. I would definitely not be where I am today if it wasn’t for moving to KCB.…
