Holder Gode, Gamle Gad stadig?

"There's Michael, then there is the rest of us," Magic Johnson famously quoted. Even the brilliant stars of his era praise Michael's greatness. This shows how great he really is on the court. But, who knew that Michael was cut from the varsity team when he was a sophomore at Laney High School? Are you out of your mind! I know that if I were the coach, I would definitely keep a guy of Michael's caliber. During this time, Michael was just a slim guy with average skills. His failure to make the varsity team motivated him to strive to be the best by practicing as often as the sun rises. He attended North Carolina in college and in his freshman year he knocked down the game winning shot at the National Championship game. After that shot, his life was never the same.…

Erik Erikson’s desire to understand people started with himself. “Erikson’s mother married a physician after his father and mother separated at his birth. The identity of his biological father was concealed from him for many years. When he finally did learn the truth, he was left with a feeling of confusion about who he really was. This early experience helped spark his interest in the formation of identity. His interest in identity was further developed based upon his own experiences in school. At his temple school, the other children teased him for being Nordic because he was tall, blonde, and blue-eyed. At grammar school, he was rejected because of his Jewish background. These early experiences helped fuel his interest in identity formation and continued to influence his work throughout his life.”…

Although Denmark is the considered to be the happiest country in the world, contemporary artists and authors create works portraying the absurdities and ironies in the reality of that happiness. In 2006, Danish author Nina Marie Aidt released Baboon, a collection of short stories about life in Denmark. She often focuses on the brutal and often hidden aspects of life. Her stories pick up at a seemingly random point in a persons life and continue through the persons eyes revealing often uncomfortable sides of life. This particular selection of stories deal with three separate families ands uncovers the unsightly truth behind the complex veil of contentment. The concept of a happy childhood is highly individual. In the stories, the children’s emotions are shown only through experience. These events describe what life is like for a child in Denmark. This analysis will look at what can be determined about the children happiness through three of Nina Marie Aidt’s stories; first analyzing a how children are portrayed throughout the stories, then looking at their individual happiness describing the elements of a happy childhood.…
