I sometimes wonder where I would be today if I hadn't had the learning experiences that I have been through in my life. No matter what the situation, I have tried to make the right decisions, by doing what is right for me, or my family. The toughest experience I went through, that caused me to learn something about myself was in December of '07. I lost my job in November. My fiancé is a construction worker who had very little work. By the middle of December all of our bills were past due by three months or more. On top of everything else, we were being evicted from our house. My fiancé, I, and our three children had nowhere

I had to dig deep for this! Dig deep to figure out what big problems I faced throughout these past years. It wasn't easy for me because I faced many difficulties throughout my life. Then I remember a time in my first 2 years of high school. I was oblivious. Confuse about my future. Whether I wanted to do something after high school. I have to admit school wasn't my priority in freshman year. I wouldn't get the best grade, but they weren't the worst either. All I cared about is having friends. Then something hit me. Seeing all these seniors not graduate on time. Seeing many kids struggle financially after high school. I eventually notice that those who go to college succeed more. Especially being a minority it's extremely difficult to succeed…

Based on the feedback given, the strengths identified are the ability to cover all points required in a paper and to write in a manner where all sections flow logically from one to the other for one to be able to read with ease. The common issue in the area of weaknesses seem to be the lack of support when speaking on a topic, there is also a consistent issue with APA style writing, namely the repeated lack of placing the first header correctly – this should be the title of the paper, and indenting of bibliography or references.…

Throughout my life I have been faced with many different challenges that has helped me become the person that I am today. My life started out pretty simple. For eight years I was an only child, and viewed by my grandparents as their pride and joy. Then my brother was born, my mom and dad separated, and I started getting into trouble in school, at home and eventually with the law. At this point in my life, I grew up fast and started forming the person that I have become based on my elders and other influential people I was surrounded by.…

When I was in first grade, my father was deployed to Iraq. My whole world changed. We moved to Utah to live with my grandparents while my mother was pregnant. It took forever for my dad to return from war. I missed him so much, especially during the holidays. When my dad came back to the States, I thought that things would be better and that our family would be whole again. Two years later, my parents got divorced. My dad was suffering from PTSD and fell into addiction. I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression while my mother was trying her best to raise us on her own and earn her master's degree. I felt that my whole life was falling apart in front of me. These struggles have made me who I am. I have learned to be more compassionate towards…

I would also like to highlight the efforts of our EES Mr. Dave Dormann. This last week Mr. Dormann first went to Defense Health Headquarters (DHHQ/OTSG), where he discussed the rumors of the Air Force and Navy supporting 5 year HPSP. It was discovered that the Air Force does not support 5 year programs, and the Navy was unknowingly and after finding out has stopped there 5 year program. What I lived in the past two years taught me that I have to be open minded and make every situation as a learning experience. Sometimes things do not go the way we wanted them to, but that does not mean that that is wrong. I got mad when I was pulled down one year, but I realize that having another year gave me the opportunity to prepare myself better for college. I was able to take courses of my interest and that probably I would not have taken if things had happened in a different way. I now know that I can face any problem with determination and hard work because giving up it is not an option for…

Last year I wrote a mid-term reflection for my ENC1101 class, and it was a summary of how I didn’t take writing serious. However, I had improved as the semester progressed. In ENC1102 I wrote my first essay, and I received my first C on a paper, and it bothers me. I know I could’ve done way better. All the grammatical errors I exhibiting weren’t intentional, and it could be solved through the reading of my paper out loud. My issues within my paper in regards to my arguments are not a great issue, but I do not incorporate enough evidence to support my claims, hence making my argument diminish in strength. With my second paper, I tried to incorporate more quotes and evidence into paper. I also have tried to include information that was not discussed…

Life can throw you for a loop if you do not think about it and watch where it is taking you. Once I realized that I was too comfortable and dependent on my family, I started to analyze the problem and dissect each and every one around me. Who was providing what? Why were they handicapping me? How do I change this situation? Why am I blaming everyone but myself? Those were just a few of the questions I asked and also went looking for the answers the moment they came to thought. I will say it made me really depict my previous decisions and also future ones.…
