The speech I chose was on September 9, 1997 from Queen Elizabeth II after Princess Diana’s death . The speech was more of an informal speech of her willingness to open herself up to the people of England during this great tragedy. The speech was effective in giving the queen a chance to show her compassion during the mourning of Princess Diana and this softened her image to the British people. The speech was something the public would not have been familiar with. The British thought Queen Elizabeth had an estranged relationship with the princess. I didn’t see any research in this speech. I do believe it was pressure that drove the queen to a public speech.…
For the first time ever multiple generations are working hand in hand. Of these, two generations are traditionalist and baby boomers. Each generation has its own ideals, conflicting ideals. These differing ideals in turn create a generation gap, causing conflict in families, schools, and in the workplace.…

At the heart of the challenge are the very differences of the generations. These differences impact how we manage and lead these individuals, and how we interact with each other everyday. It is critical to have a solid understanding of the generational differences. The benefits of understanding and adopting methods for managing such differences will lead to positive results, and help…

An inherent tension between the actual and the possible is revealed through the development of ideas in a speech. Faith Bandler’s “Faith, Hope and Reconciliation” and Aung San Suu Kyi’s, “Keynote address at the 4th Beijing conference on women” both support this statement.…
While the article stresses the differences for each generation, she evaluations which generations should work well together and why. Again, she argues the historical events surrounding each generation and why she feels these events might cause similarities between members of each group. For example, she compares the outlook of the generation that came through the Great Depression to be similar to the younger generation that saw their parents lose jobs in the late 1990s. She emphasizes that similarities like this make these generations more compatible because they share attitudes about the economic strife they…
Age has become a very important topic to be discussed as the world carries on. As people become more knowledgeable and certain advancements in life occur, people are beginning to realize that there indeed is a way to maximize your years and to have a meaningful life once one is old. Studying age has become important in social behavior also. Each generation possesses its own definition and witnessed some of the same events. Studies have come to regard generations, as familial so on the true term for the different age groups is cohorts. Again, each cohort has a range of people in them and each of these cohorts tells a different story about a different time period. Things are changing at an ever-fasting pace because of technological advancements and such, which means that the recent cohorts are more different than any other time in history. There are six cohorts represented in the world today, which include: the swing generation, the silent generation, baby boomers, baby bust cohort, the echo boomers, and millennials. These are in chronological order. This research paper will leave out the millennials. Again, each of these cohorts represent a different age in time and each has had completely different experiences, thus the exploration is, what is the character and composition of each of these said cohorts, and why does that matter today.…
Good morning fellow delegates, I am here today at the United Nation’s International Youth Forum to discuss the negative and positive concepts of belonging in reference to Peter Skrzynecki’s, Immigrant Chronicle and the 2004 American drama film, ‘Crash’ directed by Paul Haggis.…
Every day is a new day with some changes in the world. There is always a difference between yesterday and tomorrow. People thought changes were because of the environment. Due to changes in throughout life there has been an ever-widening gap between the older generation the younger generation. New generations follow a different style of thinking and behavior than the previous generation. Today, the generation from “Grandparents to Grandchildren” has changed significantly. There was a time in the grandparent generation where seeing a pregnant teenager in High School was not a usual scene, but today it is typical. There is a noticeable cultural gap between the grandparents to grandchildren generation.…

The generations follow each other but are not alike. The generation gap often leads to conflicts in the workplace: a baby boomer who denounces the attitude of a young Generation Y or, conversely, a young person who is offended by archaic methods used by the employer, are common behaviors that happen. Stability at work that previously attracted the respect now becomes, a brand of immobility to young people, and that reflects a lack of dynamism. Even though it is necessary to separate people to better define and understand them, we must keep in mind that the human being is much more complex. The following profiles express general characteristics of different generations.…
Interviews of older adults were conducted on the subject of their life history and demographics. Each interviewer was given conversation prompts on basic life history such as: year and place of birth, family structure, career path, and education in order to gain basic knowledge of the interviewee. The interviewees were also asked questions about the demographic shift in society and how he or she believes the shift will impact older adults. In addition to the interview, an analysis between the interview and studies demonstrating demographic connections was also assigned.…
I now understand how younger generations can unknowably be ageist towards older generations by being over accommodating or even accidently being invasive. We don’t always realize it, but at times when we are trying to be helpful we can often degrade older adults because they might perceive us as not having confidence in them to accomplish a task. By the same token, we might infantilize the older generations by treating them as if they are infants or young children. We often do this by using childlike gestures, higher pitched voices and simpler speech structure and terminology. This often makes older adults feel devalued which can be detrimental to their…
