Essay On Cosmetics Animal Testing
The cosmetic industry uses animals to determine the safety of their products which is beyond inhumane to use animals just for beauty. Cosmetic testing is by far the worst kind of testing there is poor, defenseless animals that are torchured just for a new perfume or other beauty product. The animal rights organization PETA has shown that, ¨Animals have different biological systems than humans do therefore the tests cannot be as accurate¨ (Rodgers). They do many horrific tests for example one of them is called an irritancy test which is where a liquid, powdered, etc.. substance is dropped into a rabbit's eyes and the after effects of the test can be irritation or even bleeding in the rabbits eyes!! Over half of the animals that are tested on like the rabbits die 2 to 3 weeks afterwards. Cosmetic testing is not only abusive to animals, but is highly illogical to because it is also highly expensive. Alternative testing for cosmetics could retain the same amount of more reliable data, which is less expensive and not cruel to animals!

Animal testing is an illogical way to use animals as a test tool to try and uncover new cures. Animal researchers have been using animals for many years for medical research. The animal researches from the animal rights organization PETA have said that with the results of the animal testing they gathered, that they are closer to finding cures to many diseases- such as the cure to cancer. In fact though, it has been proven that all the researchers found was the cure for cancer in mice, but it simply didn't work in humans, according to a former head of the U.S. National Cancer Institute

All suffering is undesirable whether it be in animals or humans. Just because animals do not have the ability to talk, or have moral judgement does not give us humans the right to discriminate against the defenseless creatures. These animals are put through so much pain, suffering, and traumatizing

Diseases that are planted in animals are never identical to the diseases humans face. It’s very unlikely that the research conducted will even be correctly interpreted and applied to humans. Dr. Richard Klausner the former director of the National Cancer Institute said, "We have cured mice of cancer for decades, and it simply didn't work on humans." Since scientist won't readily admit failure, the public doesn't know about the ineffective tests conducted on animals. (Noel Merino) Animal experimentation can be good or bad depending on how it’s viewed.…

New cancer drugs made the cancer survival rate go up about fifty percent. Due to animal testing, we now have a better molecular and genetic understanding of tumor biology. Because of this better understanding, it leads to treatments that set out to specifically kill cancer cells. Medicines to reduce heart disease and strokes that were tested on animals, save over one million American lives each year. Animal testing has made medical progress in Alzheimer's disease, anesthetics, antidepressants, asthma, autism, blindness, bone and joint disease, brain injury, breast cancer, cervical cancer, deafness, diabetes, Hepatitis B, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer, smallpox, and strokes. Although these advancements are good, animals had to die and suffer during these tests when there are alternate methods of testing medication. Over one hundred fifty million animals are killed for…

Scientists never express their thoughts about testing cosmetics on animals. Nature surveyed a thousand biomedical scientists, over seventy percent of those scientists conduct experiments on animals. About ninety percent of those scientists felt that animal testing is important in scientific improvements but they also said that they are concerned about the well being of the animal. When they test them they try and use little as many animals as they can and they treat them with respect.…

Most animal testing is very inaccurate because human beings have different chemistry than animals, some animals are similar to humans but they have gaps that can prevent or make false cures that can do more harm than help that is why animals are given medicine that people are not prescribed. “U.S. Food and Drug Administration found that 92 percent of drugs entering clinical trials following animal testing fail to be approved. Of those approved, half are withdrawn…

Others believe that animal testing has “contributed to many lifesaving cures and treatments.” According to (Animal Testing) “The California Biomedical Research Association states that nearly every medical breakthrough in the last 100 years has resulted directly from research using animals.” Some people are highley for animal testing for this reason. One believes that animals are the reason why we are still here today, just based on the fact that we could run experiments and learn new things. One also believes that there is no other way to test on a whole-body system besides humans. Some even say that animal testing is beneficial to the animals, thus saying that humans can help the animals when they experiment and test on…

The products we use everyday are a luxury that we are blessed to have and be able to use everyday. They are so easy to use and the benefits are so great that people don’t really care how they are made before they hit the shelves. But not many people think about all the tests that the product had to go through to get on the store's shelves. Not many people think about the negatives of the product and all the test that are done on ANIMALS. Animal testing has always been a dispute between people; some people think it’s morally wrong and some people think it helps with medical and scientific breakthroughs. Drugs that people use or cosmetics that are used could have been tested through animals before being stocked on shelves. About 800 animals are tested on before a drug is passed to clinical trials (“Is animal”). Many animals get tested on, but many like mice, rabbits, hamsters, monkeys, dogs, cats, pigs, and some other animals get tested on. Animals can be used to find new advances in medical treatment and check safety for products, but these animals that get tested on can go through pain and death. Animal testing is wrong and should be stopped because…

In the 1930s and 1940s, an inhumane form of science rose to prominence in the scientific realm under the branch of scientific testing known as animal testing (Hajar). Over the years, as society and science progressed, animal testing did as well. The use of animal testing became ubiquitous in the scientific community and utilized in a variety of industries including the medical, cosmetic, and many more. However, recently, cosmetic animal testing has been garnering a significant amount of interest both among scientists and animal activists due to a number of cons that call into question whether or not cosmetic animal testing is necessary. However, after much research, one can come to the conclusion that the use of animal testing for cosmetic…

Peta came into public in 1981 when a family of seventeen macaque monkeys were being tested on, the members of this activist group stood outside the Behavioral Research center and protested. From then on they would be widely known all around the world. There is an ongoing argument that whether animal testing benefits us or is just cruel to the animals. According to Cruelty Free International, the U.S drug administry invests in a total of fifty billion dollars each year. One drug that is tested is Vioxx, it is used to treat arthritis. It was found to be “safe” and was tested on monkeys and five other animals species. Even though it’s been tested multiple times, this medicine has caused over 320,000 heart attacks and strokes, and 140,000 deaths. According to Peta, animal testing is a waste of time and money, and most importantly animals. Animals don’t contract the same diseases as humans do, one example Parkinson's disease and also HIV or alzheimer's. Yet there is an alternative to testing on animals, scientists have developed a way of actually growing human cells and making them into human organs which provides a more realistic way of testing. But on the other side, animal testing has had some benefits, in 1920 researchers removed the pancreas from a dog, this developed insulin therapy. Scientist today are…

Scientists use the animals to research different drugs and chemicals and essentially are looking for abnormal reactions from them. Being a female I purchase different cosmetic products that I use on a day to day basis. Cosmetics are articles intended to be applied to the human body for cleansing, beautifying, promoting attractiveness, or altering the appearance without affecting the body's structure or functions (“Fact Sheet–Cosmetic Testing”). Some of the most commonly known brands test their products on animals. Companies like Johnson & Johnson, Avon, Kleenex, Vaseline, Dove, Giorgio Armani, Maybelline, and countless more companies test their products on animals. Scientists conduct skin irritation tests that rub chemicals onto shaved skin or drop the chemicals into rabbit’s eyes without any pain medication (“Fact Sheet- Cosmetic Testing”). They are testing products with the chemicals that could potentially cause the irritation, such as makeup remover, eye shadow, mascara, and things applied to the eye or eyelid. This test is obviously inhumane and painful for the rabbits, but there are alternatives to this test that are humane and can be done in place of it. Instead of putting the chemicals onto the rabbits, manufacturers can drop the chemicals onto donated human corneas (Cosmetics and Household). Women wear makeup and…

Millions of innocent animals such as rabbits, mice, dogs and cats are killed and abused every day for things like beauty and hair products. Imagine a family pet or a bunny in a factory operating table being abused, cut open and poked in the eye with a mascara wand until he's blind. This just an example of the horrifying truth behind animal testing. Although there is proof of medical positives it is taking millions of innocent animals lives to find a good makeup product. Animal testing needs to be illegal, humans and animals bodies don't work the same,…
