Essay On Gummy Bears
In this experiment, we will be finding out what happens to gummy bears when put in different solutions to observe and predict why they dissolve, shrink, or grow in each of them. The solutions that we are using are 2 % Low-Fat milk, apple cider vinegar, filtered water, sugar, baking powder, and salt. The prediction is that when the gummy bears are in baking powder, they will be hypotonic, but will be hypertonic in sugar. Our controls are the same intervals of time and the same type of gummy bear. Since they are made purely of different forms of sugar, when mixed with the sugar water, it will most likely expand.
Gummy bears originated from Germany. Hans Riegel Sr, started the Haribo company in 1920. It was originally based to make gum, but as time passed it was used to make other desert and various things. To do a science experiment with a gummy can be quite exciting yet hard to work with. Some people may think that it doesn’t matter what brand of gummy bears you use isn’t important, but really it is important. There are Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Fat free, and MSG Free and many more to come. Now you know that there are different types of gummy bear brands. For example, there is Haribo, Trolli, Albanese, Jelly Belly, etc.
For an experiment using gummy bears there are specific brands that you should use if you’re looking for a specific reaction. For our experiment we are using Haribo Gummy bears. An interesting fact is that if the gummy bears that you use in an experiment are made in Turkey then your bears are entirely made out of pig. Which for me makes our experiment more exciting. Not only do you find out what type o reaction happens to the gummy but you find out what would happen if you took a piece of fat from a pig and reenact the same experiment with the
