My passion for helping people has encouraged me to succeed beyond expectation and escape the confinements of societal and cultural limitations.
I aspire to continue performing altruistic actions at the Emory community in ways such as establishing a mentorship club and aiding the EPASS Tutoring service. I view college as a gate for endless opportunities. My opportunities were limited growing up in Ethiopia, but circumstances changed for me when my parents and I moved to America in pursuit of better education. I strive to fully utilize this opportunity provided to me through their sacrifices.
The current underrepresentation of educated immigrants and minorities is disheartening. I strive to change that in this country and one day internationally.
