In life when it comes to hard times perseverance is key. Without perseverance people in a bad situation lose sight of what is their goals and what is good for them. If goals are set and are not given up on, the greater chance of success. The books Night by Elie Wiesel and Sold by Patricia McCormick both relate to the topic on multiple accounts throughout the reading. Throughout the novels Perseverance is the key to survival, and a little determination (perseverance) never hurt anybody.
There are multiple reasons why perseverance aided Elie to survive the tragedy he had to go through. Many times during my reading of Sold I witnessed a lot of examples of perseverance, one being when Elie and all the rest of the Jews from the camp had

If Lakshmi did not have perseverance, then she would have given up like a lot of girls, and she would have gotten beaten for not trying, or not making enough money for Mumtaz. (PAGE 223) “ Today I will show her my calculations, the figures i've checked and rechecked and checked again, the numbers that say I will have paid off my debt by this time next year.” Lakshmi is working just as hard doing her calculations on when she can get out as every night. Lakshmi is sure of it that if she keeps working as hard as she is now then she will get out of the “Happiness House” sooner or later.
This is why throughout both of the novels perseverance and having the willpower to succeed is more important towards survival than anything else that aids in survival. No matter if you can adapt or if you have family to support you, if there is no determination involved, then no way anyone is getting out of that situation alive. There are still issues like this today, not to the same volume, but a lot of little situations that perseverance is involved

Many times in life there are obstacles that some people are unable to overcome, yet there are some people who have the ability to overcome these obstacles in life. In Jeannette Walls’ memoir, The Glass Castle, tells us about a girl who was in poverty with a father that was very paranoid and logical, and a mother who is free-spirited. Even though she went through hardships she was still able to learn lessons, and was able to push forward to become a remarkable author. Although human resilience has multiple definitions, I believe it is the ability to keep pressing forward because in the book The Glass Castle Jeanette Walls pushed through obstacles to become a famous author.…

Enduring Hardships Personal Response Everyone copes with hardships in different ways. Some people tend to escape their difficulties and start to seek short cuts, while others face the adversities and patiently overcome them. In “The Mercy” (by Philp Levine), the speaker’s mother faced the adversity of not knowing how to perform certain tasks that may seem ordinary in U.S.A, but she remained patient while she learned how to perform those tasks. When I was left, abandoned, in Fort Saskatchewan, I kept calm and I assured myself that my peers will notice my absence.…

Beating something can require perseverance in many different ways. In The Call of the Wild, Buck is taken from his cozy home and put on a sled dog team. He fights with the lead dog, Spitz, often, until one time Buck finally beat him in a fight. On the other hand, my Gram went to college and took a speech class. She was afraid of speaking in front of a large group of people, so she used perseverance to help her control her decisions. While Buck and Gram are different, they were both afraid at one point and both beat a fear they had. Both Gram and Buck had to experience something new, whether it was fighting with another dog or going to college and talking in front of people.…

Everyone will behave differently when they face adversity. Some of them might give up easily, or they fight with their courage instead of accepting adversity and tragedy. In True Notebooks, Mark Salzman shows us how the boys deal with obstacles. If those boys can’t overcome obstacles, obstacles overcome them. Therefore, they must persist in the end when they face adversity. Sometime, some of them are lucky to overcome obstacles by persisting in the end, but many of them can’t overcome obstacles because of the situation, or they don’t even want to overcome obstacles.…

While this provides temporary fun, it won’t help towards real success.” No matter what someone’s job is, if they put in their hardest work…
