“Three key Ideas of the Renaissance” “What a piece of work is a man!... in form and moving how expressed and admirable! In action how like an angel!”- William Shakespeare, from Hamlet. The English Renaissance period happened from 1485-1625. This was the time of some great events. The Renaissance, meaning “rebirth,” was characterized by innovations in art, science, and exploration. In this essay, I will explain to you why those three things are the key ideas of this time. Artists like Leonardo Da Vinci were established during the Renaissance. They made art which shows figures both religious, and non-religious. Had pieces more realistic with real emphasis on nature. Also these works had three dimensional with perspective, and showed people who are active and show great emotion in the artwork. Without the artwork of this time, an important part of life would be missing. They used recovered works from the ancient Greeks and the use of experimentation-based knowledge achieved through observation like human plus animal anatomy, math, inventions like the first flying machine, and so on, were important contributors to science of the time. I believe the exploration of the Renaissance was by far the most important factor. Explorers like Marco Polo who later influenced Columbus and Magellan lived during this time. The explorations of Marco Polo are very significant. Not only did he travel to several different places, he also found out a lot about Chinese culture, which was really known to Europeans during that time. He also found out about areas unknown to Europe, such as Japan. These travelers used sails, magnetic compass, trade and goods all came out of the explorations of the Renaissance
