Explain The Three Major Components Of The Criminal Justice System
The three major components are: law enforcement, courts, and corrections. Law Enforcement includes local, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies. The courts are made up of trial and appellate courts as well as public defenders. Corrections include prisons, jails, probation, and parole, both noninstitutional community- based programs. (p.2)

The point of the criminal justice system is to help protect the people that live in the community. (p.2) While each component in theory should work hand in hand, that is not usually the case. Most people who have not been processed through the judicial system don’t really understand the problems with it.
