If the school were to extend the schedule for students, students wouldn’t have enough time to be with their families.Kids should have a lot a family time…
Krueger middle school claims they need more time to get from class to class. Some students are running from class to class and get hurt. If there's 5 minutes that will be enough time to get a drink and go to the bathroom so there's no valuable time taken away from class. Also if one student shows up tardy it distracts the whole class because they have to turn around and look who came in. If everybody's on time to class there's more time to learn. Its also very convenient for teachers if there's 5 minutes, because they don't have to leave the class to go to the bathroom. A student from krueger middle school stated, ‘Three minutes is not enough time to get there and get your things out of your locker. This year for tardies we have to go to court. Nobody wants THAT! Even if it makes our day a little longer , the time will be well…
Racial equality has been an issue throughout the history of the United States. The problem stems from the legalization of slavery. From then on, people of all the different races have advocated for the rights of minorities. One of those such people, who strove to break the barriers, was Mark Twain. In his novel, The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn, A young white boy named Huck sets out in adventure with a black slave named Jim. Throughout it, Hucks relationship grows from one of acquaintance to one of friendship, teaching Huck to go against society.Twain makes a social statement that a color should not define a person.…
Students depend on schools as a basis for their education, a place to learn and grow, and to push them towards post secondary success. The Mounds View School district’s board members set up the district’s high schools to start at 7:25 a.m., followed by the middle schools (8:05 a.m.), and then the elementary schools (8:45 a.m.). Focussing primarily on our community's high schoolers, as they are statistically proven to need more sleep, it is crucial that they are getting at least ten hours a night. In order for this to happen, they would need to go to bed by 8:25 every night (assuming it takes them an hour to get ready and drive to school), which is extremely unlikely with the amount of homework, activities, and sports students are involved in. Hence, teens are not receiving their required amount of sleep at night. Correspondingly, schools (similar to Irondale or Mounds View) have increased rates of teenage car accidents, have more students diagnosed with mental and physical health problems, and students are obtaining lower academic achievements; therefore, I propose that anyone who cares about the future of New Brighton’s high schoolers should write a letter to the district’s board members in order to influence Mounds View Schools to push…
Since the beginning of the school year, the district has been undertaking all the different ideas that the parents want for their kids to get more sleep. However, a later start shouldn't be the answer because it has numerous major conflicts with activities, free time, and other aspects that take part in teen and adolescents lives. Students everywhere would like a later start, even if it's minor. The district sees this, but superfluous conflicts continue to materialize if the final decision is to do the delay in the morning. However, another solution that could give the youth a chance to get rest and still keep up with their activities, would to have an early release every Friday. Instead of having a two-hour late start every month, a better resolution would be to shorten the school day at the end of the week. This would allow students to spend time with family and friends, get all their homework done, and maybe even get a nap in before the weekend even starts. Littleton Public Schools district should decide an answer to this problem they have been working on, but still consider all the different solutions and opinions before determining the final…
Therefor I don’t think our school board should add time to each school day. I think we should keep our schedule starting at 7:30 and ending at 2:30. That way we can get home do chores, play and go to any afterschool activities. If we changed our school hours that would interfere with parents/guardians work schedules. Now with the schedules our school has we don’t get to restless with the teachers or other…
I think the state of Arkansas should have a four day school week. We would have longer days, but we will have longer weekends. We will have shorter summer breaks. The students will also have more time on the weekends to talk to our friends on the weekends. More time to spend time with your family and less time doing home work. We would have more time for school work.…
High schools should start their school day later than they do now, in order for students to get the best out of their education.…
It would be bad idea to add an extra one an half hour because there would be no time for extracurricular activities, older siblings wouldn’t be able to get their younger brother/ or sister off the elementary school bus, and schools would have to provide a snack for the children because it would interfere with families early dinner time. Can the school afford this? It is very important for families to have family time because families should have a strong bond. Also, kids should have time to get out their energy and have fun instead of learning for nine hours a day. Here are my reasons on why the School Board should not change school hours.…
For this debate I am debating why school time should stay the same. J.C.M.S middle school in Sierra Vista has a delayed start time of 9:00 a.m., and finish school at 4:00 p.m. This affects the children who are involved if afternoon sports, most time not getting out until 6:00 p.m sometimes later. If you have homework that same night after spending two hours doing a sport you might procrastinate and not do your homework at all or you will be tired and end up making mistakes that should not have been made. An earlier start time ensures an earlier release time letting sports start earlier and homework being done at an earlier time while not as exhausted from the day.…
Education should delay high school start times. On average, high school students are two hours…
Solve: There are many ways to solve this problem, but one of the ways that I’ve come up with to get later school start times is to confront the Wentzville school board about the academic and emotional impact that the earlier times have caused for students throughout the state of Missouri. There can also be a petition signed by parents and students to push back school start times by an hour at the…
Our names are Jaden Mueller, Dita Musinovic, Luke Mullen, Brianna Miller, and Cooper Peddicord and we are all ninth grade students at Johnston Middle School. We are writing to you to address the debate of the delayed school start time. We believe that the school start time should stay the same because it will negatively impact after school activities, homework time and the amount of sleep we will be able to get every night.…
Our school is considering going to a year round schedule, while currently, students have core classes on A or B days for the entire school year or a full semester. The school board has to make a decision on if they want to keep the current schedule or change it. Changing the schedule wouldn’t help improve anything that is going on in the school. It would stress out students, teachers, and even…
As modern society advances at astonishing rates, it is a common occurrence that many mandated policies are rarely reviewed, and often become outdated. One of the best instances of this could be depicted by the modern school year. The school year was optimized for a different time, and as such, needs to be changed. The change to an all year school would allow for improved learning, greater knowledge, and an increased number of breaks throughout the school year. The need for change in the school calendar is very crucial, and be beneficial for multiple purposes.…
