Matthew Pojas Obesity is defined as being overweight because of an excess amount of body fat. Obesity has been a major social problem on the island of Guam for many years. Statistical data and previous situations have shown that this statement is a fact. The statistics, causes, and contributing factors of obesity will be further explained throughout the rest of this essay. According to studies done by the CDC, the problem with Guam's people is that they have unhealthy diets and lack physical activity ("The Obesity Epidemic.", http://www.cdc.gov/healthyyouth/yrbs/pdf/obesity/gu_obesity_combo.pdf).
