1- INTRODUCTOIN 2- RESEARCH QUESTIONS * In which level, dialects of Sialkot and Jhelum differ? * Do economic conditions of the speakers put effects on dialect variations? * What are the social stratifications of the people of Sialkot and Jhelum? * What are the effects of geographical distance between the two areas on their dialects? 3- OBJECTIVES OF RESEARCH * To obtain a clear picture of the dialect variations of the people of Sialkot and Jhelum through indicators like pronunciation, accent, lexis, syntax, semantic structure etc. * To establish a relationship between the social conditions of the people and various ways they speak. * To highlight the problems and shortcomings faced by the local population during mutual conversation and suggest some solutions for it. * To expose the students to the problems and difficulties encountered during the performance of field survey and the collection of primary data direct from the field. * To train the students in the statistical techniques of processing, analyzing and presenting the collected data.
4- HYPOTHESIS
“People of Sialkot and Jhelum speak differently with respect to their pronunciation, accent, lexis, syntax and semantic structure.” 5- STUDY DESIGN
We are going to undertake a research on dialect variations and the better study method for this type of research is Descriptive Research. We select Descriptive Research Design for our research.
