Film Analysis: Intimacy Vs. Isolation

The movie that I have chosen to resemble Erickson’s stage; Intimacy vs. Isolation is Endless Love. In this movie you have a young, beautiful, shy girl, who comes from a wealthy family, but throughout her four years of attending Atlanta high school, she has not made any friends. Jade, has engaged herself in trying to do well in school and wanting to be successful in memory of her brother, who passed away because of cancer. David Elliot, Jade’s classmate has had a crush on her throughout high school, but has never revealed his love to her.
One day, Jade’s family decided to stop at a restaurant where David works as parking valet. While being in the parking area Jade somehow bumps into David, and there he mentions that he was one of her classmates in high school. Jade decides to ask him to sign her blank year book. Inside the restaurant Jade asks her parents Hugh and Anne, for a graduation party, her parents agree to let her host a party and she happily invites David. As a result David gives Jade a joyride in one of the guests cars. The owner of the car insults Jade and David reacts by
When David arrives he tells her that everybody is at another graduation party. David makes everyone from the other party attend Jade’s party by calling the police and complaining about the other’s party loud noise. That night Jade and David sneak into the closet where they both kiss. While being inside the closet Hugh gathers everyone for a toast and calls Jade’s name. Shamefacedly Jade walks out of the closet followed by David. Her father finishes the toast and courteously requests everybody to leave. Outside the door, David properly introduces himself to Hugh and apologizes himself for the inappropriate behavior. While talking at the door, David tells Hugh how much he cares for his daughter. Immediately, Jade who is discretely listening inside the house, runs behind David as he departs and kisses him
