This not only means keeping the sleeping quarters orderly for everyone, but there is also the grueling task of keeping the restrooms spotless. The crew is responsible for their own living conditions and are not given special amenities to aid in their responsibilities, such as a housekeeper or a cleaner. It is not only the firehouse itself that must be maintained, but the actual fire trucks and engines must be washed by the crew as well. These immense vehicles take quite a bit effort to clean and therefore require specific attention in order to ensure that they are properly cared for. While the trucks and engines may not be cleaned every day, it is still a duty that the crew are responsible to carry out nonetheless.
Although there may be a few minor differences between each firehouse, one theme remains consistent: camaraderie. The fact remains that there is no tolerance for selfish behavior, and so the crew creates an inviting atmosphere in which all feel welcomed and supported.
