Introduction:
Now-a-days flower market of Bangladesh is rapidly growing up. In Bangladesh, flower production initially started in late seventies by some farmers with the production of Tuberose. Large number commercial production was started in mid eighties in jhikargacha upazila of jessor district.
The most common, commercially grown flower species in Bangladesh are Tuberose,
Rose, Marigold etc. Bangladesh is well suited for cultivation of flower due to its favorable climate and other condition such as scope to expand cultivation in unutilized homestead lands, cheap labor, relatively low capital investment in contrast with high value addition and good prospect for exports.
Cultivation of flower is reported to give 3-5 times and 1.5-2 times more returns than gain from rice and vegetable cultivation. Now more than 10,000 hectors of land covers flower cultivation taking the lead by jessor district. More than 5,000 resilient farmers are growing flower and flora in the country and about 150,000 people are directly or indirectly involved in floriculture business as their only livelihood.
Floriculture with its ability to yield higher economic return per unit area is slowly gaining ground in the diversification plan in agriculture, which may help the crop farmers to improve their livelihood by enrollment their business to flower production. After achieving certain level of food security, the crop diversification plans can accelerate the national and economic develop of the country. Floriculture has not got any direct attention or direction from government. The achievement now it has is silently done by the private sector in an unorganized way without any support from the government. Therefore if this industry is explored by farmers, traders, exporters and policy maker it can significantly attend to the national economy by earning more foreign exchange, generating employment and increasing GDP.

Like any other son or daughter, one may think that flowers are used as a token of appreciation on a day where all mothers around the world are celebrated for all of their efforts to raise us. Yet, the question of where and how the flowers are harvested and issued to consumers never comes up. Many serious labor and environmental problems have been associated with the floriculture especially south of the border in the Latin American countries where most of our flowers derive from through a tariff-free ship to the United States. Health hazards are the bare minimum that is suffered by this floriculture society as a result of the pesticide/fertilizer runoff into fragile water resources in the community and the chemicals that are used to preserve the flowers are exposed to the women who work with them on a daily basis.
