Food Science Personal Statement

I believe that higher education is the key to success, I have made pursuing my college degree in Food Science my priority. Starting my academic career at Tacoma Community College while in high school was the first step towards my goal. My short term goal is to begin my studies in Food Science in Fall of 2016 at Washington State University. I plan on focusing on the dairy industry that will prepare me for many different kinds of food manufacturing and quality control. My long term goal for my degree in Food Science is to work for the government or the military creating and utilizing new technologies for high quality safe foods. Food Science deals with every aspect of the food manufacturing process, combining scientific technology to the food
industry making food safer for everyone. Food science has played an integral part in every food that we consume. Food Science helps assure quality food that will greatly reduce the cases of foodborne illnesses through regulation and control. I believe that by obtaining a degree in Food Science it will open up a wide range of opportunities to keep food around the world safe for people to eat. I believe that working in the food industry will open up a wide variety of leadership opportunities by being a supportive leader and making sure everything's running smoothly. As a leader, I would insure that everyone is treated fairly and with respect and free to express their unique self.
It is wrong to judge a book by its cover, and I have found the same holds true for people. I have developed an understanding of people through my own experiences and maturity. As a high school student I have made many wonderful friends from the LGBTQ communities. I relieves the injustices that faced the LGBTQ communities, it is unjust to treat people differently due to their sexual orientation. I have witnessed other people be less than supportive to my friends and to the larger LGBTQ communities. From my experiences, that have been overwhelmingly positive with the LGBTQ communities, I believe that they should be fully supportive. I find it completely unethical for others to judge and determine the legal status of others based on their sexual orientation. Having witnessed the legal challenges of the LGBTQ communities and their acceptance I am surprised to see what a long and hard battle it has been. As I continue my education, I am excited to meet new and unique people regardless of their sexual orientation and be supportive of everyone.
