Charles anxiously opened his envelope from Yale , and his heart skipped a beat when he saw the word congratulations. Charles felt immense joy until he saw the tuition fee. All his dreams evaporated because he does not have the money to follow his desires, even though he had the potential to do greater things in life if he was given a chance. A milestone in a student's life journey is college and the feeling of happiness when an individual graduates reflect everything they have sacrificed to get to this point ,to follow their dreams.Consequently, college is not an option for a large percentage of students due to financial issues, the average college tuition fee amount is about 25,620 dollars. According to an article by trade-schools.net , “Many of America's top performing high school students never apply to most challenging colleges and even if they have the ability to succeed, they can’t afford it…. “This leads to some students who worked really hard for excellent grades , but they can't attend a suitable college for their learning abilities due to financial barriers. The effect of this is students have to attend a college that isn't the right fit for their education level and pace , thus they can’t unlock higher levels of learning, that could have given them an advantage further ahead in their career. For example, college is where students not only learn academic skills , but it's where they learn life skills . College is a place where we find that we learn small valuable lessons that can help with the future, such as managing their time, socializing with other people from different corners of the world, and being responsible without parents there to help. All of those lessons have one thing in common, students have to challenge themselves to step out of their comfort zone because we might not be used to doing all of those things, but college gives them a chance to learn all those lessons and to boost a student’s confidence in themselves.
