There was not just one insight that I had about myself and my future as an art teacher. The first is I do have more patients than I thought. There were several students that just did not want to complete their art projects. Mrs. Fortune just let the students work at their own pace. Once she had notified the students their grades in the class. At this point, there were scrambling to complete their work. The second is still not comfortable with public speaking. There will always be that student that does not want to be there or the student that feels they cannot create art. These are the students that do tend to take a little more work. I would take time to know this student. Find out what their interest are. See if I can have them create something that they are interested in. Have their art work reflect their interest. Now for those who thrive in art beyond what can be supplies, I want to help these students to continue their love of art. I want to have that stash of art supplies that are better quality than what the school can offer.

As a teacher, I will use a small introduction Power point and end it with a video of the artist. I notice when a student can see and hear the artist themselves speak of their own work the students really pay attention. With a small clip of the artist they students can see the process to how the artist works.

Mrs. Fortune classroom has an easy flow. She was able to walk around the classroom without any issue. All the basic information about art was on the walls in bright bold colors. She has a location for all her supplies that are needed for projects. Mrs. Fortune desk is located at the front of the class next to the classroom door. This allows her to keep an eye on the students and greet them when they come in. The desks are clustered in several groups in the room. This allows for small group conversation or group projects when needed.
