One of my earliest school memories was being the first in my class to know all my times tables. Consequently, at senior school, I decided to push myself as much as possible to see what I was capable of in the subject. In addition to taking math for A-level I also decided to take further math, which meant I took double the number of modules of those studying normal math. During my GCSE year, as well as taking ten other subjects I took an MITx undergraduate course via the online learning platform edX on “Introduction to computational thinking and data science.” This developed my independent learning skills, as almost all the statistics involved were unfamiliar. I help run math clinics at school for lower years struggling with homework and I also help run the junior Math club, which lets the ablest students develop their understanding of math free from the rigid confines of a syllabus. This enables me to develop teaching skills with math tutoring and could be a very useful way of getting money for college. I consider the main goal of learning is to either to pass on your knowledge of a beautiful subject or to push the boundaries of knowledge, however modest that may be. Having been able to achieve the former goal in a small part, I hope after studying at UC to be able to achieve my later
