Disney movie, Inside Out, is a perfect example of how media stereotypes the genders in communication. The film goes into the minds of others to show what they are thinking through the humanization of five emotions. In the movie, it displays the five emotions in the main character’s father as all watching a sports game and not turning into anything the mother is saying. The emotions even go through a “code red” when the mother asks the father a question, in which he was not listening to ay all. When looking into mother’s mind, the audience sees the five emotions depicted as very talkative, orderly, and productive, constantly having conversations about the state of their daughter or otherwise. The case that women talk more than men is unfounded. At the same time the now misconception held validity in older times. In these older times stricter, more ancient gender norms where in place. Building upon these old gender norms, modern media has taken a thought that is no longer applicable to modern society to continue enforcing old ideals. To move forward past this stereotype and many others will be a challenge. Once society realizes that these old values no longer describe today's rapidly advancing society, media can shift from the inequalities it illustrates to becoming a useful tool to introduce and maintain gender
