General Mills and Kellogg’s are companies whose products are sold all across the world. They are highly demanded brands in the food processing industry. General Mills headquarters are located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Kellogg’s headquarters are in the city of Battle Creek in the state of Minnesota. General Mills and Kellogg’s are the two leading brands. Kellogg’s and General Mills have similar employment, and advertising approaches, but General Mills superior overall in net sales.
Although General Mills and Kellogg’s have employees in the hundred thousands bracket, they differ by 10,723 overall. For example in 2013 General Mills reported having 41,000 employees. On the other hand Kellogg’s
stated in their financial report that they employed 30,277 in 2013. Processing differences in employment significantly influences the way these brands go about completing their missions.
General Mills and Kellogg’s are both trying to make money on their products. Conversely different by the total profit they earned on products sold. For instance In 2013 General Mills reported net sales of 14,792. While Kellogg’s net sales was 2,982 below the General Mills earnings for products. Clearly General Mills has gone through great lengths to sale products than Kellogg’s in the year of 2013.
Finally General Mills and Kellogg’s both invest in advertisement; however Kellogg’s invest $236 more on advertisement to promote their brand. Specifically Kellogg’s invested $1,131 in 2013 for advertising their products. In the same year General Mills spent $895 on advertisements. Though Kellogg’s spent more money to advertise their brand, General Mills is still the more superior brand because they use more social media sites that are free such as Facebook, and Twitter to captivate their audiences.
In conclusion Kellogg’s did spend more in advertisement than General Mills. However General Mills has more sales profit than Kellogg’s. General Mills also employs more people in their industry than Kellogg’s. Proving that spending less on advertisement, but employing more people, creates a better net sales. General Mills is the superior brand in net sales though Kellogg’s is similar in advertisement, and employment.
