Generalist Intervention Model to Maintain Structured Thought Processes
This case is pertains to a 43 year old female named Elizabeth Slone; the client is having problems with maintaining structured thought processes. She believes that her Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Attention Deficit Disorder are battling in her mind, so using the Generalist Intervention Model Elizabeth and I will manage everything from engagement to the follow-up, a structured technique of planned changes for addressing her tribulations. I am hoping to help her put together a plan, in turn put together a plan of action that can help label things and sort them out.

Engagement
The client entered my office this morning and proceeded to sit down in a chair in which I have place beside my desk, this is so that I may turn and have face to face contact with my client. I prefer this so that my clients will feel more comfortable and relaxed, to not have any distractions when listening during the intake process. As my client is discussing the issues at hand I make sure to maintain eye contact and continue facing her so that I may ascertain a connection, it is important for my client to know that I am attentive and receptive. I do this by using non-verbal gestures and simple encouragement; this is with the hope that Elizabeth will be open and honest about what the issues at hand. I could tell the reluctance in the beginning of our session and now she has advanced toward me, this to me is a sign of confidence.

Client Background
Elizabeth Slone is a female, 43 years in age, mother of three along with 4 step-daughters and 11 grandbabies simultaneously; she has been married for almost two years and been together for almost 8 years now. She is the middle of three siblings herself, older sister and a younger brother. She has very little contact with either one of them; this is due to the different beliefs and lifestyles. Elizabeth, her husband along with their two dogs and one cat live way out in the country; all of their children are grown and have moved on to live

She suffer restless nights, a lack or inability to stay focused at times causing her to loose train of thought in meetings and ultimately lead to embarrassment on her behalf. The effects of her obsessive thoughts and anxieties if left unchecked could continue to get worse as time goes on and become an even larger hindrance to her quality of life. The case study gave me no indication to her having a prior necessitation for prescription treatments of her anxiety indicated that her anxiety and obsessive thoughts are relatively new to her potentially indication her “illness” could be a temporary. The potential for impermanence in regards to Kristen’s anxiety would still be treated but instead of treating her with medications and pill it would be more beneficial for Kristen to regularly attend therapy seasons that utilize a free-association model or alternatively seeking out mindful meditation. Kristen’s ability to not only eek out but also regularly attend therapy sessions would be entirely dependent on her financial ability to pay her fees and copays for the session, her time which as a single mother maybe be the most available, and most importantly her health insurance which she may or may not have and even if she does have insurance there is no guarantee that she is covered for mental health under her plan. A I had stated previously if Kristen goes…

The clinician begins the clinical session by welcoming Terri and thanking him for coming to the session. Throughout the clinical session the clinician positioned herself so that she was facing the client but still kept her body at a slight angle so that she was not directly across from him. I noticed that their bodies were in close proximity and that their knees were almost touching. The helper made sure to keep eye contact throughout the session and kept her hands crossed in her lap. The body positioning that she used allowed her to be open and comfortable with the client.…

“Everyone loved Elizabeth. The passionate and almost reverential attachment with which all regarded her became, while I shared it, my pride and my delight. On the evening previous to her being brought to my home, my mother had said playfully, ‘I have a pretty present for my Victor--tomorrow he shall have it.’ And when, on the morrow, she presented Elizabeth to me as her promised gift, I, with childish seriousness, interpreted her words literally and looked upon Elizabeth as mine--mine to protect, love, and cherish. All praises bestowed on her I received as made to a possession of my own. We called each other familiarly by the name of cousin. No word, no expression could body forth the kind of relation in which she stood to me--my more than sister, since…

Listening carefully was an important non-verbal behaviour, as we were discussing technicalities, and it was important that I understood what the contractor would do for us, and that he understood what I – as his client – wanted exactly. This was re-enforced by steady eye-contact, which showed that both of us were concentrating on what the other was saying. In so doing, this will avoid misunderstandings arising at a later stage.…
