Cypress College (Radiology/X-Ray Tech)

As a current student right now at Cypress College finishing my AA degree I wish to stay at cypress after I get my AA degree and enroll in the radiology program and get a certificate for finishing the two year program. I am a transfer from Santiago College in Orange and personally coming to Cypress College was one of the best decisions I made because the environment and people are much friendlier at Cypress and it sets the tone for a better learning environment. Also since I attended Kennedy high school and cypress being the main college that Kennedy people go to I frequently see old friends and people I haven’t seen in a while which is always a pleasant surprise. After completing this semester it will have been a year since I started going to cypress and I’ve noticed a boost in my grades and attitude for school and to keep the focus and determination I need to get to my goal of becoming an X-Ray technician one day. I have done my research and Cypress College is one of the few that have a radiology program and the reviews I’ve seen are nothing but good reviews. I also am choosing Cypress college to get my program certificate just because of the fact it is where I grew up and I am not the type of person to go to school far away or live on my own just yet. One teacher I found that teaches a in the radiology program at Cypress College is Laura Greico. She is a graduate of the Cypress Radiology program and has her license in Radiography, Fluoroscopy and Mammography. After completing her bachelors in vocational education and teaching credentials she started teaching at Cypress College in 1983. She is also a member of the American Society of Radiological Technologists and the California Society of Radiological Technologists.

“Teely, because I’m so interested in seeing you apply with your Eagle Vision Application…” Central University. “An exclusive invitation from UNCP..” UNC Pembroke. “Mai-Teelee, you’ll want to read this.” Western Carolina. All these colleges and universities showed interest in me by reaching out through emails and letters in the mail but, it wasn’t them whom I was interested in. It was you, UNC Chapel Hill. The first time I heard about you was back in my sophomore year, in AP Environmental Science by a group of classmates who had visited the campus. At that time, I didn’t care that much for colleges. I was still worried about joining clubs and trying to make more friends and just, have fun. Like any other teenager. However, I became intrigued. Just what was it that made this school so well known and liked? Once I decided that I would aim for the medical field, my friends suggested, of course, Chapel Hill. You. They said “It’s a great medical school and you’ll get in easily because you’re Asian.” And being naive, I believed them. I didn’t quite realize just how high your expectations were. But it wouldn’t be too difficult I assumed…

When I was applying to radiology programs across the state my only wish was to be accepted to one in Northern California so as to be close to my friends, family, fiancé and life as I knew it. At the time, I thought it was unfortunate that the only school lottery in which I was lucky enough to "win" a position in was at Pasadena City College, but as it turns out, I don't think I could have found a better fit in schools. Although leaving my comfortable country girl farm life for the city life of LA is the biggest curve ball that has yet been thrown at me I've decided to put all that I can into this program and make my…

My parents wanted me to go to Young Harris where there is nothing to do, like Pickens, to assure I wouldn’t get into any trouble. I didn't want that for myself, I knew I wanted a semi-city environment to help transition into a more busy area such as Atlanta, where I plan to move post graduation. After long nights of arguing about my future, my parents finally gave in and let me enroll at KSU. After enrolling at KSU I declared my major as Biology. As far as long term goals go I aspire to be a dermatopathologist and plan to later enroll into medical school. I was offered to chance to join a learning community so I took advantage of the opportunity as the email I received portrayed it to be a very beneficial experience. But at the same time I am a “first generation” student and I have absolutely no idea what i'm doing or if joining the community was ,or is, a great decision. I’m not exactly sure what I'm supposed to gain but I'm hoping for more individualized learning and the opportunity to be comfortable enough to ask for help in my classes.…

I made the right choice to attend in Kalamazoo Community College because even that I’m new in college and I still don’t know a lot about what college is about, what benefits I might obtain through my college life or how is college system. Going to college is a very essential step in my life. I’ve always said that education is very important. I have to confess, that KVCC is not my dream college, because it is not a 4 year college. I do want to get my bachelor degree to do so I need to transfer to any university, if my economic resources help me into this process I might attend to Western Michigan University (my college dream). Unfortunately I do not have the Kalamazoo Promise to attend to WMU right away, that’s why I chose KVCC as my 2 year…

I ended up going to Richland Community College due to my lack of education and the consequences of slacking during high school. I’ve never been the brightest child nor did I take education really seriously while I was in high school. Playing video games on constant basis did not help with my GPA at all. From the video games to the testing anxiety, it made me just want to skip through high school and go to college. But neglecting school work has finally come to a toll as I took the ACT and the SAT with terrible scores due to my testing anxiety. I’ve come to Richland Community College for assistance and for a better start on my education. Hopefully…

I was worried at first about college because it was a completely new experience. Rock Valley has given me the opportunity to experience college while still being at home. I was afraid that the transition into college would be very hard and was quite anxious about, but it has been going well so far. College was in some ways exactly what I was expecting it to be while in other ways not really what I thought it would be, both in good ways. My advisor at RVC has been there for me helping me understand what classes I would need to take to meet my goal of graduating with an associate in science. She has also helped me plan my next steps in figuring out what I will need to continue to my four-year college. Rock Valley has given an overall good experience for my first semester so far and I am pleased to be learning…

The new community college for full-time students will not provide a degree in all areas, “All first-year students would be required to take a predetermined core curriculum and would then be limited to their choice of about 12 majors” (Moltz, 2009). The majors that were proposed will be in pre-career fields, which will be designed to assist students with transferability. The transferability requirements to four-year institutions have increased throughout the years and it is important that the two-year college focuses on making sure that student are academically on track to transfer. At times, community college students do not complete a bachelor’s due to the lack of preparation for what is expected of them once they transfer. The curriculum proposed requires full time enrollment and taking more than 12 units per semester, which will prepare students for a better transition to a four-year…
