Overall, Starbucks’ performance has been mixed over the past six months. On April 13, 2012, its stock price reached a high of $61.67 per share and closed at $57.37 per share. Since April, the price of Starbucks’ stock fell on average in the following closing months of May and June before reaching a low of $43.16 in the opening days of August. The fall was correlated with the release of Starbucks’ third quarter annual report, which showed a less-than-expected performance for that quarter; the earnings per share were $0.43 compared to a market expectation of $0.45 (Baertlein). Since then, the price of Starbucks’ stock has gradually increased. Although market risk factors like decreased consumer spending may have impacted Starbucks’ recent performance, Starbucks has still remained profitable, and there are generally positive expectations for the next year.…
Women also played a significant role in the military. According to government records, more than 265,000 women enlisted in the armed services of the United States over the course of the war, all as volunteers. There was vocal opposition to female participation in the war effort at the beginning, but it gradually changed as the war raged on and the need for qualified personnel, regardless of gender, increased.…
in supporting Jem and Scouts actions because they represented parental values needed for success in life; as does my father, who teaches me things no one else can.…
Yes I feel like the experience of cookie selling and learning about marketing and money management is very beneficial to a girl scout. They get a life lesson and have an early perspective on how to…
I have been involved in many activities during high school. These activities include academic organizations, community service, athletic teams, and the professional workforce. I have learned a great deal and have enjoyed participating in them. I also like spending time outdoors, camping, and playing sports for fun.…
On the other hand, Anime club has been the most meaningful to me because I've been a part of the club since I started high school. It has not only allowed me to meet individuals with the same interests and likes, but the club has helped me become a more social and confident with myself and others. Being able to be part of a group where everyone expresses their own individual thoughts and more relating…
In tenth grade, I went on a missions trip with my church to Mink Lake, which is a camp by the Gunflint Trail in northern Minnesota. During the missions trip, we prepared a camp for the summer. Some of my personal jobs were to help clean out two sheds and reorganize them, haul logs, and trim trees all over the camp. The trip benefitted myself and the other people on the missions trip because we were able to help people have a fun experience at camp over the summer, and we also helped the people running the camp to not have to work so hard to prepare the camp for the summer campers. Another reason it was a good experience for all of us workers is because we did not have our cell phones, so we were able to form new relationships with each other since we were not constantly distracted by our…
Something very important to me in my life is service and that is why throughout my life I also plan to remain involved in the act of helping others in need. Throughout high school I have belonged to a youth group that’s has gone a mission trip every summer, and on these trips I have had some of the most meaningful experiences of my life which have really made me realize how good my life is, and how important it is to share your talents, abilities, and time with others who may not be as fortunate as yourself.…
The Boys and Girls Club of America helps thousands of Americans each year as a daycare, escape from home, way to meet new friends or to eat a sustainable meal that they wouldn’t be able to get at home. Another way that the Boys and Girls Club benefits kids is by having organized sports where the players can develop competitiveness, teamwork and become coachable. As someone who volunteers at the Boys and Girls Club I am able to experience all of the good that goes on both within and outside of business hours. As I wrap up my high school career and go on to the next stage in my life I often find myself looking back at not only those who helped shaped me into the person I am today but also the extracurricular activities I participated in. The Boys and Girls Club is one thing that continually pops into my head with the activities I partook in as well as the children and adults alike, without these experiences I would not have devolved my love for basketball, been so willing to give back to the community, or have been showed the do’s and don’ts of parenting.…
At the age of six, I embarked on something that would have a profound affect on my life. I joined the Boy Scouts of America. Here, I felt I was becoming a part of something big. I was joining an international community of men and women who dedicate their lives to developing young men into leaders. During my twelfth year as a dedicated scout, I was given the opportunity to demonstrate lasting leadership skills as I am currently in the process of achieving Eagle rank, the highest and most honorable level in the boy scouts. This honor will mark my transition from childhood to adulthood.…
The experience the troops will get from selling cookies is 100% beneficial. It’s beneficial because it is practice for the girls and practice makes perfect. Even if someone is having a difficult time with the activities, they will still have experience in the marketing field. They won’t be completely lost if they encounter any job that involves that area or if they choose to pursue a career in marketing in the future.…
My last five years in Boy Scouts of America has been more than meaningful to me. For a young teenager, who was reserved and ignorant about nature, it opened up a completely different perspective about life; it built confidence, taught me to be an effective leader, and developed personal integrity.…
I am a committed member of my school community. Out of all the activities that I am involved in, the three that stick out to me the most would be my role as a student, fan,…
When people hear the words Boy Scouts of America, most assume that all the scouts are males. Most of them are, but not all of them. I joined and I’m female, I am part of Venture Crew 575. Venturing is a co-ed branch of Boy Scouts of America for adventurous people ages fourteen through twenty-one to challenge themselves while giving back to their community. I had been a Girl Scout from kindergarten through eighth grade, when my troop disbanded. During my freshman year of high school, I began to miss the adventures of scouting, and a girl from my old troop introduced me to Venture Crew. I was confused as to how girls were able to participate in Boy Scouts, but I decided to give it a try and attend a meeting. As soon as the meeting began, I knew I had found a place to…
