Goals For National Honor Society
I am worth your time and I am capable of great things, I have potential. What I love doing most of my free time is volunteering, so I feel as if I would be willing to give an adequate amount of help to my community. I have done plenty of volunteer service throughout my past four years of high school. I have always loved helping, but I never completely realized this until my junior year, when I got accepted into National Honor Society. National Honor Society is a community service project club which I am honored to be in. Every month we at least do two hours of individual community projects, plus a group project. Even though we have a specific amount we are supposed to complete each year, I love to do more, because it is something that brings …show more content…
This is something I am very proud of, for not giving up even when times became difficult in my seventh grade. My fifth grade year was when I first earned a 4.0 G.P.A and sixth grade was the first time I was ever student of the quarter. I remember my sophomore year being a Rotary student of the month, for the math department. We ate at a restaurant called Giuseppe’s and the food was amazing. It felt like a dream for me. I still remember the taste of the food and it makes my mouth water every time. Situations like these were the ones that made me want to keep striving for my goal. I have not received an award like that in a while, but that doesn’t mean I will give up because I know that when I graduate, all my hard work will be worth it. This is why I am working hard, I want to try and earn as many scholarships as I can so I won’t have to take out too many loans. I don’t have enough money to even pay for college on my own. I will be the first in my family to graduate from high school and go to college. My plan to go to college will stay this way, hopefully until the end. Even if my major changes in the future, all that matters to me is that I graduate from college. However, my desire for graduating is so high, that I feel as though I will go through no matter what happens in life. Thank you for your

The four pillars of National Honor Society – character, leadership, scholarship, and service – are the attributes that define the society’s members. Therefore, all pillars are important for students to follow, so that they may benefit the world and make a difference. Being a member in National Honor Society implies that you are a person of great character. One of the most important qualities that you can possess is leadership. Honesty is one of the key factors to being a good leader. You must be honest towards everyone, and in everything that you do. If a leader wasn't honest, then no one would trust them. And if they weren't trustworthy then who would want to follow their lead? Leadership also requires that you have an optimistic attitude about everything. You have to take control, and look for the best in every situation. No one wants to follow someone who is always in a bad mood, and always looks for something to complain about.…

“The hardest obstacle to overcome in any leadership position is getting past the apathy to get people involved in the process to get things done…The greatest enemy to accomplishment is apathy” (Burke). National Honor Society upholds its members to have 4 important values. These being scholarship, character, leadership, and service. Leadership, in my opinion, is a very important aspect in National Honors Society because you are expected to be a role model by positively inspiring people around you. This quote stuck out because it says that inspiring people is a way to overcome obstacles in leadership. If you inspire people and make them get rid of their apathy, you can overcome stalling in the process and reach accomplishment.…

During my 2 years involved in the National Honor Society I've come to know and love the four pillars of this organization. These four pillars include: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character. Considering that scholarship is characterized as a commitment to learning, this pillar has taught me many things about the importance of knowledge. Scholarship has made me realize that knowledge is power, diligence and effort if key, and that you should do your absolute best regardless of the outcome. The pillar of service has taught me how to give back to my community. I have learned through the pillar of service that you should reach out and help anyone without compensation or recognition. The pillar of leadership has taught the importance of…

One of my favorite clubs i’ve joined for the past three years in high school is Habitat for Humanity. It involves being outside which I enjoy whereas we build houses from scratch and also help families who needs a roof over their heads. Being on National Honor Society and sports teams throughout high school, I had enjoyed participating in many volunteer experiences before coming to Drake. Every year our basketball team would collect food around our community to be donated to various food drives in nearby cities.
