(1) The teacher’s role in a classroom involves being a leader, a facilitator, and mentor. They alone can not support the needs of developing young adolescents. Young adolescents are changing and growing emotionally and physically. They need outlets and resources available to help them through these times. Middle schools should have multiple guidance counselors whose doors are open to students. Guidance counselors often deal with scheduling and academic responsibilities. It is imperative that these counselors have times set aside for students to come in freely to speak with them.
